Re: Huge News:Re-Reformulated Penhaligon's Soaps

SoulShine,

I tried QCS Fougere. To me it smells nothing like Fougere.

Re: Geo. F. Trumper Moisturizing Lotion - Mini-Review

Thanks for the review. It sounds rather expensive for the so-so performance. Is there anything that you've tried that you like better?

Re: Need help!!!

Jason,

I get cluster mosquito bites that look almost exactly like that. They are made worse by scratching, which sometimes occurs when sleeping. Its getting so i can't sit on our deck in the evening without putting on repellent.

Re: Trumpers creams

Harper, It would be one thing if the criticisms of Trumper's et al soaps was limited to SMF, but it's not. I read the same criticisms, and indeed many more of them, at B&B, Shave Nook, and on UK wet shaving forums such as The Shaving Room (this thread for instance: http://www.theshavingroom.co.u...

Re: Trumpers creams

Gordon, Your post brings something else to mind. Wet shaving has becoming very popular in recent years, Trumper and the other 'prestigious' old school English firms could be selling so many soaps to so newcomers that they really don't care about retaining older soap customers. If this is the case it...

Re: Trumpers creams

. . . so long as Trumper and those other firms continue to accept this drek and source from them there seems to be little hope that the situation will improve. Regards, Gordon That's the mystery, isn't it? This is the $64 question. In Soapworks January, 2012 pess release they stated that they purch...

Re: Trumpers creams

Thank the gods that Soapworks doesn't make shave creams, or it might be the end for the British shave creams. Creighton makes excellent shave creams, for Trumpers and others as well..

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

The tubes must vary, my sandalwood has been the most faded of all the creams that I purchased. I added a squirt if TOBS sandalwood cologne as i was whipping up the lather and it helped liven things up a bit.

Re: Praise due for Floris No.89 shave soap

Gordon,

Perhaps Floris are using a cheaper, inferior rose base? I think this is (one of) the culprits behind Penhaligon's cheapened Hammam Bouquet.

Re: Poor Man's After Shaves

Pete, I didn't mean to capitalize the V in vintage, my mistake. It's just an old bottle of the Fresh Lime, made by Shulton. Here's a picture of it. Sorry for the poor lighting. This stuff still pops up on ebay every so often. http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/15053/normal_DSC07738....

Re: Praise due for Floris No.89 shave soap

Just a thought, Trumpers creams and soaps have a production code on the outer carton that makes it easy to see the month and year of production. any chance the Floris soaps do likewise?
