To Pureslab, I owe you an apology. You were absolutely right and I was absolutely wrong. What's your store, by the way?

I emailed the fine folks at the Feather Safety Razor Company, and here's what I got back from Mr. Yoshioka: "In reply to your question, please be informed that there is no difference in quality between our "New Hi-Stainless" blade (in the yellow box) and "Hi-Stainless" blade...

Just about every airplane lavatory I've ever been in has had a slot for used blades. I wonder how often they're emptied.

If that's the case, I wonder how long it will take for everyone's stocks to filter down until only current production remains.

Just out of curiosity - why wont the wife "allow" a sharps box? They arent that big (mine is about the size of a half gallon of milk) and will safely hold blades for years........ That's still pretty big. A razor blade is less than 1/100 of an inch thick, and they tend to stack up pretty ...

I'm suprised that more people don't use the 99 cent blade blank available from most blade suppliers. Just buy it when you buy blades. http://westcoastshaving.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=43 Now where's the DIY fun in that? As the guy who was going to make a cave...

Drugstore.com has Rite Aid generic witch hazel for $3.49 a pint. I had some FSA dollars left over and I loaded up.

Has anyone here tried the "Diamond" variety of 7 O'Clock? The package looks very similar to the black Super Platinum, but with diamonds on it.

That is an interesting observation and it appears the newer packaging is the preferred blade , at least by this individual and from the blades he used. I don't mean to badger (heh), but why would you put something in new packaging and remove the word "New?" Yellows are sold as "New H...

I sell them , they are EXACTLY the same blades as the yellow packaging. In just the newer more modern packaging The yellow label are slowly being phased out. I think you're mistaken. The blades are clearly very different under magnification. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28397&p...

Are these the same blades? Or is one better than the other?
Derby Extras are twice as good, in a sense. The Professional is a single-edge blade for straight razors. :)

My understanding was that the yellow wrapped Feathers were those in a five-pack and the Feathers in the pack with the black cover were a ten-pack; and that otherwise they were the same blade. Where have I gone wrong? Thanks for any clarification, John I haven't tried the blacks, but my understandin...

I noticed that the cream was 'lumpy', like mom didn't mash up the 'taters' enough. I didn't think that it was an issue, i ended up just getting a stick and mixing it up a bit to get rid of the lumps. I just thought it was a little odd. Funny you should mention that, because I encountered the same t...

Re: Blade Disposal

I use a plastic piggy bank (with no stopper on the bottom; it's just solid). I've seen some guys take a big aspirin bottle and cut a slit in the lid with a Dremel or electric drill. One guy even took a lighter to the cap, so it partially melted to the bottle. When it's full (and that'll take forever...

If you have a specific cross in mind, you might want to post a question about it before buying something expensive. Well, I currently have a long-handled Merkur (#180) and a ball-end Gillette Tech. I haven't tried mixing-and-matching those yet; (the thought occurred to me during the day today.) I w...

Handle threading

Does the threading on the handle of a three-piece razor vary from brand to brand? Do any brands match?

I guess what I'm getting at is: can I put together Frankenrazors without modifying any parts?

You know, the funny thing is... you speak of him as if he was dead. I spoke to him on Facebook just a couple of days ago. Iceman: "Cougar and I were like brothers in flight school. He was a good man." Maverick: "Still is a good man." Iceman: "Yeah, that's what I meant."

cvac, I didn't care for them and do not think they are in the same league as Taylors. Overly slick and didn't lather well, at least with my water. I have Rose and Sweet orange and found I need to use more than normal to get a good lather. Good glide, OK cushion. I agree, they're inferior to Taylors...
