Fitjar soaps discontinued

Just a FYI, got a newsletter from the soapmaker yesterday in my email. Apparently she can't handle the EU red tape any longer: " I have a total of about 120 self-made products and the EU regulations require extensive documentation and analysis of each product in order to market and sell it. I h...

Re: Kitchen knives

Count me in on the carbon steel camp as well. I have a Robert Herder (or Windmuehlenmesser) "series 1922" chef's knife and a paring knife and they're pretty much all I use. Available in the US here: https://store.kaufmann-mercantile.com/collections/kitchen-home/products/windmuehlenmesser-c...

Me neither, and that's putting it mildly. I can't believe this guy ... at it AGAIN, biting the opposition?! Words fail me, I'm so disgusted. He needs to be sent home from this World Cup, pronto!

Re: Do feather blades come in 5 pack? Consider buying..

I've seen them in black packs of 5 like these here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-FEATHER-Dou ... 1022025431 but never before in yellow packs of 5. I already do have an 'ample' supply so I really have not been looking for these for a while.

Re: Wool fat question

Sounds like you're not using enough soap, could be as simple as that. I know some people say they only load their brush for a few seconds and get enough lather for a multi-pass shave but somehow I doubt it. I always take my time and load the brush well and thorough before I start lathering, no matte...

Re: Wiborg shaving brushes

Gordon, I have no idea who they are, how long they've been around or who actually makes these brushes, nor am I contemplating buying one (God knows I have too many as it is). I stumbled upon the site by accident yesterday but later made a google search and found that people on other forums had alrea...

Re: Acca Kappa Cedro After Shave Splash

BTW, Gary, have you tried german Pitralon? Might be worth a shot, since you are fond of cedarwood. I got some from connaught when they still shipped overseas by airmail. Made with "natürlichem zedernöl". Not bad at all, IMO. Out of stock here for the moment, I don't know if there are other...

That may very well be the case, even though being irish they're not bound by Royal Mail restrictions. This has all become unnecessarily complicated these days, IMO.

I dry shave the back of my neck with a de razor once a week, works fine. Wouldn't try this on my beard, though, as it is much tougher.

Re: Williams Menthol shaving cream

Last few years the Williams in the tube was very hard to find. The past year Sara Lee has really cranked up distribution, and many online EU vendors have both varieties in stock. Thanks for the info, Malocchio! Can you (or anyone) recommend a Euro vendor who has this? The only European company I've o...

Re: last of the stash

Gents, You can still get this fantastic cream. It has to be Williams menthol (green tube). Best I have ever had. Get it from denis.coirault@wanadoo.fr He charges €2.70 per tube plus shipping. You won't regret it. I buy 20 tubes at a time!! Apparently he also sells the Sensitive: http://www.fauteuil...

I can highly recommend the Esbjerg creams. I ordered mine direct from their own website: http://www.esbjerg.com/index.php?mainmenu=onlineshop&submenu=16&restype=1 Stateside, I'd probably order from here: http://www.straightrazordesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=29&pr...

Just FYI, "vaara" means "danger" in finnish. Not that it would stop me, but I don't find the description that appealing, either.
