Thanks Andy. That is actually semi close to my house but have you ever used any of their brushes? I gathered from lurking on the forums for a little while that the Vulfix #2235 is a pretty good brush and it's a little cheaper than the silvertips that I saw on the website that you recommended. If any...

My First Brush Choice

I think that I have made my brush choice. I will be procuring the Vulfix #2235 Super Badger. Does anyone out there use one and can you give me any tips or experiences that you have had with this brush?

My First DE

I have officially bought my first DE. It's a 1952 Gillette Super Speed and I just can't wait to get my eager little hands on it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever used one of these and if they have any tips for my first shave. Now all I need is to buy a decent brush and I can officia...

I went to only one of 3 stores in Calgary, maybe I will have better luck at the other two stores. Like I said I wouldn't mind buying a brush online if i could get some recommendations.

Yes it was in Canadian dollars and I suppose I would be willing to spend whatever it takes to get a quality brush, i was just saying that I didn't think the Crabtree brushes were worth the money.

Help out a fellow Calgarian!

Hello everybody. I was just wondering if anybody out there had suggestions where I could buy a good quality shaving brush in or around the Calgary area. I have already been to Crabtree and Evelyn and their least expensive brush is $100 bucks. Now I really don't have that much money to spend on a sha...

Sorry Tim!
I didn't mean to rub it in honestly I was just as surprised as you to find out that I had not one but 3 in the city. I tend to think that Calgary is a bit behind in high end or fashionable items, or even specialty items. Where do you live Tim?

Well I am trying to get one from eBay.It's a Gillette SS 1952 for about $20 bucks including shipping. Is that a good deal? And a good starting razor? It has been cleaned and sterilized and it looks like it's in nice shape. It's item number 320112327791.

Thanks for the info. Is there anyone from Calgary on right now that would be able to point me in the direction of a great local spot for shaving supplies?

I really don't mind doing that for everything except the brush because I would really like to feel it before buying. But if anyone can give me a good recommendation for anything I won't mind giving it a try. Getting a hold of these supplies isn't urgent, but I would like to assemble a kit and to act...

Niksa would be just fine, and thank you for the welcome. I have used the Mach 3 and the new Mach 5 or six or whatever it's called with a pressurized shaving gel. i would really like a close shave, with as little irritation as possible because my face is prone to razor burn, and I hate ingrown hairs....

A quick question from a newbie.

I was just wondering if the 1940's British Super-speeds are better built than their American counterparts and if one of them would make a good first razor. I have never used a safety razor before but have been "wet" shaving since I began to shave. I say "wet" because up to this p...
