Re: Trac II longevity

I use vintage cartridges with my Trac II handle. Schick and Wilkinson give me easily a week's worth of shaves apiece.

Yes. She has in-home physical therapy for two weeks followed by two more weeks of outpatient PT.

Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement.

Wife's Hip Surgery

My wife had successful hip replacement surgery yesterday and, almost unbelievably, she is back at home today slightly less than 24 hours after the procedure. She is already walking with the aid of a walker and climbing steps.! The wonders of the medical procedures available today astound me. Thanks ...

Hip Replacement

My wife will undergo hip replacement surgery next Thursday. She is looking forward to a better, more active life. Naturally I'm a bit nervous over the whole thing but also very optimistic. Anyone here been through this?

Re: New Guy and New DE Shaver Checking In (Pics)

Welcome to SMF. Nice handles. Anybody who can make those should not have any trouble learning to shave with a DE. It's really not difficult. You've watched the videos. Millions and millions of men have mastered DE technique without them. Just take your time and watch the angle and the pressure. Don'...

The thing that needs to be remembered here is that this is television...that is, entertainment. Any thinking person watching anything on commercial TV needs to keep in mind that he is being entertained, not being informed. That goes for the news as well...network or cable. It's all entertainment. Do...

Re: The REAL Wilkinson !!

Interesting that your number 1 blade is the Gillette Blue, a carbon steel blade. Such a different acting blade than the Brazilian Wilk must be. I'm a carbon blade lover myself--use them most of the time. The Blues are great if you can find them in good condition.

Re: Floaters

Thanks for the responses. To go into a bit more detail, my eye doc said that the sudden increase in floaters is not uncommon at my age (57). She said the gel like substance inside my eyes called the vitreous humor has begun to shrink and detach causing shredding of the collagen fibers. As they break...

Floaters

I am plagued by floaters. I'm talking about the annoying squiggles and blobs that drift around in my field of vision. Though I've had them to a degree for as long as I can remember, over the past year they have increased dramatically and are now interfering with my vision to the point where reading ...

Can we determine if these are vintage blades?...and if so, how old? Are there any clues on the packaging?

Now that is the type of blade find that I long for. I am looking forward to your test report. Are we aware of any other Wilkinson blades from Brazil?

Re: Vintage Palmolive Brushless

Yes Chris, the brushless is in the green tube. I have a few tubes of the lather cream that comes in the red tube. It's a pretty good performer. I agree it does have an unusual scent but, to me, not offensive. The brushless has an unusual scent of its own, quite different from the red tube.

Vintage Palmolive Brushless

Haven't started a thread in a long time so I thought I'd help inaugurate the new look SMF with a thread on an old favorite, Palmolive Brushless. I scooped up a few tubes of this several years ago when it was discontinued but still lurking on store shelves. Been using it quite a lot of late and findi...

I am a long time user of vintage carbon blades. For me they always perform best in a mild razor. A Slim set low, 1, 2, or 3, is my preference. The Super Blue is a great blade. Many other old carbs have treated my face very well.
