Joel and Vince, I do enjoy this site immensely. Thanks for your work and efforts in providing a great place and atmosphere for us to chat about things we love. I see this site growing everyday. Gordon and Nathan, I am with you on the "what is a shaving mug?" thing. It it refreshing to see ...

I know what mean about wanting to try different stuff and having to wait. Seems like I get my best shaves when I don't think about it too much. Sort like golf for me, whenever I get too many mechanics type thoughts in my head I do worse. I m sure you tried it, but might I suggest only two passes one...

Nathan, The Gillette adjusts from 1-9 with 1 being the least aggressive. I have a HD Merkur and find it to be close to a 6 or 7 on the Gillette. I use both for variety and when I choose a Gillette I usually use 6 or 7 for N-S, 4 for S-N and 2 for touch and cut. These may vary a little but they are c...

Rick, welcome, I second Gordon in calling Charles at Qed. I have the 210 super and love it. Although gents here seem to prefer a little bigger brush, I find the 210 a perfect starter brush. It is inexpensive. This brush will make enough lather to give 4 or 5 passes easy. I have to shake quite a bit o...

Paniro, Once your face heals up enough, I would only shave with the grain for a while and see how your skin reacts. Shaving too close is a major cause of ingrowns. The multiblades will usually pull the hair out and cut it below the skin's surface. The skin will then grow over top of the hair and cre...

I like Gucci Envy quite a bit. Second you on Le Male. This one seems to big hit with the ladies. You wont stand out with it though because of its popularity. One of my old favorites is Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills. They no longer make it for men though. I am just now getting into the more classi...

I agree, Astor does seem to be very close to Polo. Possibly not as strong and maybe a little sweeter during its dry down.

Uh! wait a second (scrounging through samples) Ah , yes there IT is. I am going to have to try some more Trumpers Sandalwood as I re read these posts. It is definitely in one of the best Sandalwood notes that I have ever smelled.

Chris, I bought some Eton College from Ray at Classic Shaving about 2 months ago and it was in a flat topped blue tub. The cream was very dense. Works and smells great. About a month ago, I bought some Taylors Sandalwood cream. It came in a bone colored flat topped tub. The consistency was more of a...

Count me in on the samples too. 14 cologne vials and 5 creams. Not many companies around that give that kind of service. While I liked all of the samples, Sandalwood surprised me the most. I just can't stop sniffing my arm. I might not be able to wear it in public because people will think I am cons...

I use both circular and painted motions. It should not harm the brush at all. Half the fun of this stuff is just exploring different techniques.

I will also put a vote in for the HD Classic. It will make you concentrate on your technique and worry less with fiddling with the settings. I would start with the most basic and simpliest razor. If you get hooked on wetshaving, like many here, you will be trying more than one razor anyway.

I noticed on countrycc.com that they had one some Gillettes with blue, black and red knobs. They did not indicate whether the colors indicated less or more blade exposure.

Joel, When I first opened the Eton College, I did not know what to make of it. It was just so different. However, after a couple of weeks, I really opened up to it and now find that I like it very much. At first the scent was very weak until a few dollups were removed; then the scents intensity doub...

That is some interesting uses. I have thought about mixing Jojoba with some other items to help with the occasional razor burn or dry skin. How did you purchase your lemon oil? Seems one could tinker with this to find some acceptable and beneficial uses.
