OK, so I said I couldn't weigh in on this. Based on JimRs "I'm back" post I realized I can weigh in once someone suggested that the "no longer available" soaps are best. p.160 morbido (I think that's it's name). Excellent soft Italian soap. No really, I like it a lot. I'd put it ...

Saturday AM: VanDer Williams Simpson Special Best badger Hot towel x3 Slim set to 9 Super Iridium (3) Bay rum A shave that ranks up there with the best I've ever gotten as far as comfort and closeness. A BBS without effort. A few very minor weepers under the nose, as usual when I forget I'm using th...

Never used a R41, but from the sound of it I'd probably like it.

(Thumbs up from me)

Thursday evening:

Semogue 1438 Boar
Williams (reformulated)
Gillette Black Handle
Super Iridium (2)
Bay Rum

One very nice shave, an easy BBS that was obtained as easily as if it was in my Slim set to 9. The shave comfort rivaled my best blade so far, the 7 O'Clock Yellows.

Daniel, if you think the shavepocalypse for injector razors is coming, then stock up on 'em!

Why should you give up a cherished way to shave because someone decided to deep 6 ammo for your shaving instrument?

I use KMF and Bigelow. If you read the instructions they say to apply by hand. I tried that and they work, but I far prefer using a brush.

My buddy loves KMF applied by hand.

Tuesday: Vitos soft Italian soap Rooney 3/1 SS GEM Featherweight Ted Pella 121-3 SS ptfe GEM blade Bay Rum The Featherweight isn't my most aggressive SE razor, but I really like this, my first SE razor. It gives a shave just slightly below my OCMM, and above some much better looking, much older razo...

:) No, not for me. I have no long term investment in the blade whatsoever, and no skin in the game, so it stands on it's own as I use a blade or it's gone. Same as anyone else, except what I find acceptable may be more stringent- I don't know about that, I haven't checked with anyone else. I like ag...

Monday AM: Provence Sante Handcrafted brush from an Alabamian '40s gold Tech Iridium Super (1) Bay Rum Not quite a BBS, definitely a DFS. Not much to shave off, since I had a BBS the night before. Very comfortable. After shaving with the Voskhod I'm gunshy about new blades and saying how good they a...

FWIW, I tried a virgin Voshkod tonight in my Slim set to 9, and I didn't like the blade. It's sharp enough, but it isn't smooth. I still got a great resulting shave, it just wasn't comfortable.

It's not a blade I'll be buying.

Some day I 'd like to have enough experience with soaps to be able to have an opinion. I couldn't even state which of my current soaps I like best. I get along with all of them and like them all, some more than others, but I couldn't state which of my really good ones are best. They are all just in ...

Congrats!

In 5 years I hope I can just remember what year I began blade shaving for keeps. Right now I can only remember the month and it hasn't even been a year yet.

Old fart here. They say the mind is the first thing to go. Or is it the second thing to go? I can't remember. :)

Sunday evening: Valobra stick Simpson Special Pure badger Slim set to 9 Voskhod blade (1) bay rum All in all a great shave, bbs in fact. I used a Voshkod blade back to back so as to reevaluate it, and it's not as good as I originally thought. It doesn't come up to the standard of my best blades. Wit...

I never tire of watching the GC video! Great choice of music too. I'd love to do that. The JetCat engines aren't very expensive, but the development of the wing was pricey. I was a military parachutist and staying aloft for extended times, during training jumps only, was a dream we all had. Only the...

As long as you can still get it developed and you use film, it's a wise move. I have freezered film myself, though not as much as you have. I don't know if I can even get the color film developed locally anymore. I can develop Tech Pan. What a shame it has to be an either/or proposition, or so it se...

GA, a 40s Gold Tech is about as mild a razor as ever has been made, and a Gillette Black Handle is pretty mild too, maybe a 3 on a Slim adjustable. Both razors gave me good shaves on a par with my best blades.

I liked the first 3 shaves on the blade, #4 was the shave from hell. I got a lot of weepers. I used it in a 40s gold tech first, a black handle 2nd and my Slim set to 9 for 3 & 4. FWIW, the blade might have begun to turn on me on shave #3, but I didn't recognize it. It was fully rabid on #4. I h...

Friday Evening: Slim set to 9 Voskhod (4) P.160 Simpson Special Pure badger Bay Rum Well, I found the limit to the Voskhod. 4 shaves is one shave too many for this blade. I got plenty of weepers during this shave especially toward the end of the shave. For me it's a 3 shave blade, so it doesn't make...
