The Bronnley shaving soap came in an un-tarnished bowl with the seal of King George VI. Also on the soap itself. The color is like butter or french vanilla ice cream if you will. The Harris is egg shell white as you know. The Bronnley has more of a pungent 'bitters' type aroma & I think smells a...

Many kind regards Chris and Ian both. Yes, I was referring to the toilet soaps. They say 'sodium tallowate' and not that potassium bit like on the already partially re-formulated shave soaps. Going over old ground here, just wanted, to check on the progress of the changeover from what you see on she...

Many Thanks Richard! I have been in the wings here for a few years anyway. I 'officially' joined about a year after getting snared...laugh. I must tell you, I have gleaned a lot from yourself, Dr. Moss and Big Ren from up North there. You ALL have been generous with your time & various "tak...

I have an unused Bronnley shaving soap in wooden bowel from probably late '60's early 70's. It is '"off-white" in color and has a quinine type scent. Some pre, "before Anglo Saxony yielded to other Anglo Saxons/Semites with bull horns", un-reformulated Knize Ten would do it for m...

Harry, Ian and Chris, Funny stuff blokes and good insights! BTW and just because "what else would you expect", Ian, does the Fern soap you purchased have 'sodium tallowate' listed in the ingredients these days? Also I noticed you went with the same said in your SOTD for this Tuesday and no...

Ateace....The "Lucky Tiger" Molle is THE Molle. They bought it from Alvin Labs. of Younkers, NY in 2003. Same identical ingredients list as I have both jars. I called and spoke with a gentleman at the time of the sale at the Alvin Labs customer center. He told me everything I have relayed ...

A little more on this.... For men with inquiring minds like ours, it is a bit queer, that these very old American brand names are no longer produced or commonly sold stateside any longer. Colgate used to have a lather cream in the tube/jar. Gone now with the mists of time. Gillette is made in Britai...

Just to add to this a bit further. If I rightly recall there was in fact no "British version" of Palmolive cream. The "classic version" in the dark green tubes was made in Belgium & this was the most widely distributed/available in chemist shops. The lighter bluish green tube...

Coate's follow-up

Thank you for suggestion. I will try leaving in fridge for a few day's or so. I tried looking for past threads such as "runny-cream's" and such but could not snag anything. I think one is being deft if can check before purchasing, but is not possible for many I'm well aware. Lesson learned!

COATES IN THE RING

Good Evening Fourm. I hate for my first ever contribution to be about a couple of "off pot's" of the hard to come by...more than one should pay at this point Coates, but none the less. I ordered from Pasteur's two of the Rose & when I un-screwed lid/peered inside they were both oozing ...
