I would really like to an original, Somerset Simpson brush. I'm looking for a medium sized brush (like a Duke 3) in good condition. PM me if you have one you are willing to part with. Thanks.
Sincere good luck to you Aaron - this is probably not an easy thing to find. The production stopped long enough ago that almost everybody who bought one & didn't like it has sold it already, and you're looking for the most-popular (and therefore most-kept) models.

Thanks, they do seem to come up from time to time, just have to be patient I guess (and be lucky enough to grab it before someone else)
Thanks, I'm excited to try an original Simpson, but I'm also trying not to set my exceptions too high. After all, I'd be lying if visual aesthetics weren't a factor.
Congrats on great buy! BTW I'm curious what's the difference with Somersets and ones now other than lamp blacking? Thanks
There are quite a few potential differences. There are (and were) also variations from brush to brush and from batch to batch that will complicate any explanation.
I'll let people with more experience of Simpson brushes fill in the details.
I'll also note that many of us on this board only got to see pre-Vulfix Simpson brushes produced in the company's dying moments, and Simpson made brushes for years. I expect the brushes did not stay the same over all those years either.
