WTB: Dirty Bird Scuttle - Got One

Post by churchilllafemme »

I'd like to buy one of these shaving scuttles, the kind with a water reservoir underneath the inner bowl. Large/small, model, color, and age don't matter, but excellent or better condition required. I'm only interested in these two brands; I already have a Moss and a Becker. Thanks.

A Georgetown scuttle is on the way. (Thanks, divotmax - Bob) I'm still interested in buying a Dirty Bird.

I just got a DB last week, John, and it is different from the Becker; some differences may be because of my choice of scuttle style.

First, it is smaller like a large coffee mug vis-a-vis a teapot, heats up quickly in the micro, and a simple design. The lather bowl is narrow and deep; it keeps the lather very warm but tends to encourage banging the sides with your brush handle unless the lather is made higher up on the side. Also, without a handle, you need a napkin to move it from the micro to the bath area; at least, that is part of my process in the mornings. They are well made, attractive, and functional.
Nothing will be accomplished if first all objections must be overcome...

Doug,
It sounds like you got a brush scuttle rather than the larger bowl scuttle with a handle. I'm actually looking for the latter.

BUMP. I'm still looking for a used but good condition Dirty Bird scuttle.

3/7/12 Edit: One is on the way to me. Thanks, Ed (LookingGlass) and SMF.
