Large Simpson PJ design in a white bone handle. The images speak for themselves. This is a rare brush – I’ve only seen 2 or 3. This one is marked Bullocks (with a u) Wilshire. There is a hairline down one side – typical of this type of handle. I have owned and used the brush occasionally for many years with no problems. The knot was installed by Shavemac and it is a 29 x 57 mm in a firm but soft silvertip bulb. This is a very rare brush that is a joy use. $725

I'd be scared to use it in case I dropped it and the ivory shattered.
Very, very nice.
I'd advise potential buyers to check about whether they can buy ivory (even pre-ban) if the brush is going to cross a border.

There’s no doubt that this is pre-ban. I agree though this sale is CONUS only. I’ve never hesitated to use this brush even though I have only done so maybe 30 times. The most notable difference from resin is the weight. This is quite a heavy brush.

I did some looking and it appears that many jurisdictions - recently within the past few years - have passed regulations that simply forbid ownership, buying and selling of anything made of ivory. The exceptions seem to be limited to family owned artifacts only when passed to other family members. The original ban was losing its effectiveness due to some nations approving the sale for the sake of the economic rewards. Large lots of ivory being sold for large sums, and hundreds of elephants and rhinoceros being slaughtered. The outright forbidding of ownership rendered everything including but not limited to the bootleg stuff without value and being destroyed wherever it was seized by the forbidding nations. A real big deal. Prospective buyers may want to research their jurisdictions.

Interesting points made here. I’ve seen dozens of ivory-scaled razors sold on shaving forums and the ivory has never been discussed other as an aside in the Description. In view of the issues with ivory, I have withdrawn the brush.

Regardless of the CURRENT laws, this is a beautiful and important and historic piece of shaving memorabilia. I would be proud to have this in my collection.
