I am just starting out in 'gentlemen’s' shaving; trying to start out with a Nationwide Campus Injector (but plan on trying a DE later too).
Does anyone have a decent Badger hair brush taking up cupboard space?
Alternatively, can you recommend a good starter brush I can purchase and have USPS'd to Canada?
(UPS/FedEx add ~$30 at the border which is rather painful)
I am also looking for a nice hard soap so any recommendations in that vein would be great.
I am located in Vancouver so if anyone is aware of a local shop that is reasonably competitive that would be ideal.
Thanks!
Geoff

I haven't looked, but does Crabtree & Evelyn sell their brushes in Canada? They are supposed to have a decent brush for not too much money. You caould get that in a mall (I know there's a C & E at Oakridge mall, maybe other places).
Charles at qedusa.com has good brushes and never overcharges for shipping.

There's a place right on Vancouver.

I'm not sure what their prices are like.
You can also try Crabtree and Evelyn. They have stores in Vancouver.

They sell Edwin Jagger brushes for a good price and I've heard they are decent.

Good luck.

Personal growth has always been a passion of mine... I'm just too lazy to do anything about it.
The Coquitlam Centre is right by me and has a CRABTREE & EVELYN. I will check them out before I buy online; thanks for the suggestion.
QedUSA's SR-208 brush looks like a fair deal (conveniently out of stock).
I will fire them off an email re: restocking time and shipping via USPS.
They certainly sound like they attempt to be fair on their website; the biggest issue is UPS/FedEx charge $30 for the customs paper work but USPS only charges the tax (which is quite a savings on smallish orders).
The Proraso Eucalyptus shaving soap appears to be the only shaving soap they stock; I will research that one on the boards a bit more to see if it is decent.
(When I learned to shave it was with a brush/hard soap and going back to a soap appeals to me; sure I will eventually try cream though)
Thanks for the ideas.
