Favorite Bath Soaps

Favorites lately are:
Yardley English Lavender (the more expensive kind)
Yardley (US kind)
Imperial Leather

And for a treat, as they are quite expensive:
Roger & Gallet Fern
R&G Sandalwood

Sure beats the Zest I grew up with at home.

What are some daily favorites?

I think we have had a few of these in the past.

My list is unchanged and has been the same for some time now. In no order or importance:
MWF
Imperial Leather
Yardley's English Lavender

Mike, My list from several years back has shrunk to almost nothingness by now. Almost all my old favourites have switched from a tallow to a palm oil base in the last few years, which has more or less ruined them for me. Not only do they not lather as well as they used to, but on a personal note, my skin just doesn't seem to get on with palm oil soaps regardless of their quality. Some of my old favourites included:
My all time favourite bath soap, Floris Rose Geranium
Bronnley English Fern
Floris and C&E Lavender
Claus Porto Almond
Real English made Yardley Lavender
Penhaligon's English Fern and Hammam Bouquet
Trumpers Limes and Wild Fern

Some of these soaps have always been quite expensive, of course, and therefore I wouldn't get them that often anyway, but some others weren't that outragous. Today, about all I'll use willingly is the real Vinolia...which has always been one of my favourites and which is still tallow based today.

For me it would be a tallow-based soap in unscented or with a natural scent rather than fragrance.

I'm currently using a Prairie Creations unscented bath soap that is tallow-based and is very good. I also like Yardley Lavender, which borders on strong for me scentwise, but it doesn't hit my olfactory like most fragranced soaps.

Mike, The real English made Yardley Lavender is still a very high quality soap, per se, but the current version is now palm oil based.

I'm coming to Gordon's conclusion about palmates. I am waiting for Bullgoose to get in MWF body soap. Chris kindly sent a bar of Vinolia that was lovely stuff.

We used to get it on-the-cheap here as well in our pre-dollar store establishment-days (my fellow cannucks may remember Bargain Harolds and By-Way). My wife bought it because:
A) it was the cheapest bar soap you could get at the time when we were first married
B) It's British (need I say more????)

Then it went off the shelves suddenly and our source of supply was gone. We stock up (and I do mean stock up) every time we go back -- best price I have found was on The World Famous Bury Market --- 4 bath sized bars for £1. Sweet.

PS -- only in the UK would you see a Northern town claim to be world famous because of its market.

Used a bar of Valobra Primula for the first time today. A classic old school scent with a lovely, creamy lather. Too early to call a favourite but it's bloody good!

I like Lightfoot's Pine, still sodium tallowate based. Very basic scent. Longevity could be better..

In the sodium palmate category I currently like Claus Porto Favorito in the big 12.3 ounce bar. I pay $16.00 from Merz Apothecary. I've given these as gifts and my mom and aunts are hooked. Just warn them about dropping it and you've done your duty.

This is really a unique scent and I will definitely try others from this maker.

Strange thing about this soap is that it is made in England (apparently) yet it is impossible to buy it here.
