my new hat....

Post by mark the shoeshine boy »

This is my new hat....from Art Fawcett of Washington. He is a custom hat maker. This particular one is my second from him. We call the Tucker, because I actually am in the car business (iNternet Manager) but i use to shine shoes...

This one has a 2 5/8 finished brim with the matching ribbon and wind cord (the button looking thing)...100% beaver and fits like a glove. This is Navy Blue and may appear black or gray depending upon the flash and your monitor...

so what do you think ??

and no that is not a gi-normous Moss Scuttle in the background....

Very nice, Mark -

Art is a "hat god" among men.

I seem to remember getting a certain box from him lately...

Mark,

Were it not for your avatar and signature which give away your identity, I'd swear I was looking at a picture of the Goldfather.

Art Fawcett seems to be the go-to guy in the world of custom fedoras. Even a well known hatter in Toronto admitted to me the Borsalinos aren't what they used to be. When I finally take the plunge I'll give Art a call.

Your hat looks great. Gives you something to look forward to when the cold weather strikes.

It does look good. How does one decide what sort of hat makes him look good? Id have no clue on where to begin. My hair is thinning and it might be a nice touch later on

Honestly, Sam - I had no idea at one point, either...

I just tried a few different styles. Most folks said I looked very good in a hat right away. The biggest issue was ME not being used to the look.

If you have a hat store nearby - go there. If not (like me) try a few used ones from e-Bay. Make sure and get your size first!

yes it is named after Preston Tucker of the Tucker automobiles....since my real job is in the automotive field (internet manager) and I love car history..you always name your hats (i don't know why) so i felt Tucker would be appropriate...classic, stylish...that describes me doesn't it ????

That's a great hat. Really looks good on you.

I've searched around but can't find Art's website. Got a link?

Sam,

Art asks you to send a picture of yourself with height and weight, he will be able to tell you about what you would look good in...somewhere there is a guide (on the fedora lounge) that shows what each facial type should wear...

sheppard and mine are of 100% beaver and can withstand rain or snow without any trouble...yes i get noticed and complimented alot...shep is too...

If anyone needs any further advice or questions feel free to pm me or shep !!!

I wear a Newsboy. I fear I'm too young to pull off your style.
