Bottled Waters

Post by PonyPlayer »

For those of you who drink bottled water....what is your favorite(s).

The tap water in our area is generally fine but we do have days when it has a rather "funky" smell so we use bottled water most of the time. Deer Park water is the one we usually purchase from the local Sam's Club.

I usually drink tap -- NYC has some of the best tap water in the world.

If I am buying, I like Vitamin Water. It somewhat assuages my guilt as spending hard-earned coin on H2O.

I am a big Fiji water fan, even before they started their marketing blitz. Very clean tasting.

When it comes to water for tea however (another obsession), I reach for Crystal Geiser.

Joel,

Is that Trinity mineral water that you are referring to?

I've had a few bottles of this but I can only find it at Wholefood stores and I don't get there to often.

 Whoa, time warp!

I was delighted to see ClownJuggles and Scotto posting on this thread -- until I saw the reply to Joel, which clued me to the dates on the posts.

My oh my. Goodness gracious me...

Anyway, Fiji. The square bottles fit perfectly in my carry-on bag when I travel.

We have a reverse-osmosis system to filter our water which is probably cleaner than most bottled. Buying bottled water just seems wrong.

Rusty:
Some bottled water is true RO that is dosed with minerals to make it taste good. Trust me, I've worked at some of the bottling plants water treatment facilities. Industrial RO plants are an entirely different critter than the little home units. Water straight out of an industrial RO tastes like distilled (bleh), except that it usually runs a bit acidic to prolong membrane life.

I like Dasani and Aquafina. They are the only ones you can get just about anywhere. Some local bottled water isn't that good.

What I like best, though, is cold Brita filtered water.

Aquafina got nailed because they use straight tap water.
Now they're extolling the virtues of filtered tap water on their commercials but still don't mention that it's tap water. Dasani , which is owned by Coke, is another filtered tap water which costs an arm and a leg per bottle.
I usually like the water from the Superstore, $3 for 30 bottles when on sale.

Evian is Naive spelled backwards. I remember a rumor the name was for the people that would spend more then a buck for water. It is actually named for the French spring of origin.

I try not to buy bottled water, just such a waste. At home I have a good filter under the sink with a tap through the third hole in the sink, were a sprayer might go. Probably spend about $30 a year on the cartridges, but still cheaper then bottled water, and my conscience is clean.

If I am on the road and have to buy water, I do like the old european sparkling mineral water Perrie or San Pelligrino. If they are not available then I go with spring water. Just figure if I am paying more for water then the gas I am putting in my car, I want it to be natural. Not tap water from NY.

I have a water filter on the feed coming into the house and use a Brita water pitcher. I don't like paying for bottled water and I use a multi-vitamin for any supplements.

Nitrox:
The last time I looked, Dasani was dosed RO. The original source doesn't mean diddly for RO, but it will affect pre-treatment costs and membrane life.
