We named our dog Harvey after the James Stewart film.

We named our dog Harvey after the James Stewart film.

Bruce was considered at the beginning, but we know too many human Bruces.

The front runners are:

Hibs (An inspired suggestion. Thanks Dominic.)
Kuyper (Dutch, not Scottish, but the subject of some research my wife did while working on her graduate degree. My girls just like the name.)

We pick him up Sunday. We're going to see what fits. I'll let you know, and post a pic or two.

It turns out that ignorance of Scottish soccer can disrupt family harmony. Your warning was dead-on. In the midst of a family gathering, just one day before traveling to get the dog, I throw out "Hibs" as my personal favorite. The stunned looks shot in my direction had one, unmistakable meaning: Idiot.

I guess my wife's family isn't from that part of Scotland that adores the Hibs.

Clive, what is the chick magnet power of this dog on a scale of 1-10?

Not being a pro (like yourself, of course), I would say 9, but I'll like an expert opinion here.

Very cute dog! We used to have a blue merle Aussie; she was the smartest dog I've ever seen. Even as a pup, she could distinguish among objects, so we could say "Go get your ball/Kong/frisbee." Her ears would perk up, and she'd trot off and come back with the item.

These dogs are practically indefatiguable, so be prepared for lots of fetch, etc.

I was late on voting. I kind of liked jpolaski's "Argyle," but shortened to "Argy." This would allow you to say, "Argy Bargy... Argy Bargy... Whooza Argy Bargy? I'ma Argy Bargy. Yezza am. Yehhhhza am! Argybargyargybargyargybargy..."

Richard here is how it works. The scale isn't measured between 1-10, but rather phone numbers per hour. if you're sitting at an outdoor cafe with a dog, how many women stop by and chat and leave you with their contact information is how a dogs chick magnet appeal is measured.

3 numbers per hour is the highest score one can aim for.

This little Kuyper is good for at least one per hour...........not too shabby

I thought the Scottish had like 4 names? Kuyper is good, but I was thinking Dutch for some reason when I read that name.
