Renata Tebaldi

I was saddened to learn of the death of the great Italian soprano Renata Tebaldi on December 19th.

If you're not overly familiar with opera, but someday want to take a peak at it, I would suggest you find something sung by Ms Tebladi. Though I rarely enjoy the soprano voice because it is like nails across a blackboard, Renata was truly an exception. Her voice was considered one of the most beautiful of the 20th century ... I'd go so far as to say among sopranos her voice was THE most beautiful. The maestro Arturo Tosconini remarked that Renata Tebaldi had the "voice of an angel".

Charles,

It certainly is a great loss.

Todd -

Renata Tebaldi was to opera as Baryshnikov and Nuriyev were to ballet ... that is, so very good that even the novice would instantly know she was something special.
