Investment advice in troubled times

Post by Sue »

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Couldn't resist posting this :o

Buy McDonalds and WalMart stock. Or put your money in a money market account.

I usually move my money into the available stocks in my 401K that are paying dividends a few days before the ex-dividend date then move back to the money market and to my suprise, I've made more money from the dividends last year than I have lost.

OK, Sue I will take your advice. I'll explain to Dot that it is your sound financial advice and it doesn't matter that I can't walk, it's making us money. Hmmm, and that brings up the fact that the more I drink ( I mean invest ) the more I make. There is no time like the present to get started. hic, hic

But what about those of us that prefer bottled beers? I'm certain glass can't be worth nearly as much as aluminum...can it?

Ahh...I just remembered that Guinness comes in cans as well. I'm goin to be just fine now.

While the invest in yourself idea is a great concept and has my full support the guys who are REALLY cashing in on this concept are the ones who buy the beer for 80 cents a can sell it to someone ELSE who does not have the same entreprenurial spirit for 1.20 AND then recycles the empties.

How about they sell it for $6.00 a can at a football game or NASCAR race. That is what kills me. I make sure I get suite tickets with the free food and booze.
