Explain your SMF name

Post by DavidB »

Several of you have creative (e.g., honkdonker) or even obscure SMF names. Care to explain how you came up with it?

Here's an example: one fellow on another forum had the name "ShearedBadger," which was inspired by those bogus stories on the web about how no badgers were killed to make this badger brush; they were sheared like sheep.

Alas, my SMF name, DavidB, is plain vanilla. David Barnes.

Cheers,

Dave

Just a highly unlikely, ridiculous sounding combination.

Coche_y_bondhu is a type of feather used in flyfishing. A rare genetic strain. The fly under my name is a Coche_y_bondhu fly named so because of the brown feathers used. This is the dry version for floating presentations. A wet fly version also exists.

Furnace (reddish) hackle is sometimes used for the coche_y_bondhu feather . I have a coche_y_bondhu saddle (rump feathers from the rooster), but alas, no cape (back of head and neck). I have a full rooster skin order with a breeder, but still waiting. The hasn't been born yet.

Did I say I flytye and flyfish? Sorry, I digress.

Mine is a tribute to John Maynard Keynes--the father of macroeconomics and arguably the greatest economist of the 20th century.

WOW, that was quick Chris, usually when I put that out there it either doesn't get picked up or someone gets it later.

Actually, it's my first "Arthur", middle "Angelo" and last name "Costa", followed by Junior, I was named after my father.

Hello Tony,

Tony Esposito was a great hockey goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks back in the 1960s, I believe. His brother, Phil, played for the Boston Bruins?

Those were the days of Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, etc.

Mine is from two of my favorite vices, both of which involve smoke. My subhandle on one forum was 'The Triplesmoker' due to what happens when I indulge in both vices simultaneously.
