Andy Rooney is retiring from 60 Minutes

Post by GA Russell »

This Sunday's show will be Andy Rooney's last appearance on 60 Minutes.

He will continue to have an office to write books.

In that case R. Lee Ermey might be immortal.

Edited to delete a rude comment on my part. I meant it as a joke, but it just seems a**hole now.

Dad took me to breakfast at a rural cafe where I saw the sign, "Don't complain about the coffee, you might be old and weak yourself someday."

I don't think old and weak can possibly be used in the same sentence to describe coffee. The older it is, the stronger it gets.

Rooney was a last link to the era of war-tempered news vets. I miss Cronkite and Severeid, and Murrow.

I really enjoyed Rooney from time to time -- but admit I was never a regular.

His surely distant relative from Liverpool and currently living in Cheshire is someone whom I follow, though.

I watched him this evening on 60 Minutes. His current state of mental acuity is probably far above the average for others of his age.

Working 10 minutes a week must be a real strain on him.

At times he was funny, but personally, I really didn't care for him.

I do admire his ability to work as along as he has, he trully must enjoy and love what he does, and that is great.
