Octobers lately have been outstanding around here. This year's got an asterisk due to the continuing absence of precipitation.

Being a teetotaller, I can't answer that -- one of my national compatriots will have to chime in on that question.Squire wrote:Igloos, huh, does your beer freeze?
On a less lighter side --- my wife and I always spend a week together in Maine in late October. We stake out the same beach we have hit with our family for 25 years. Our children are grown now, so their spouses and friends often come in the summer - but the fall is for us alone.
The weather there is almost always fabulous -- the past 3 years we had sunny days at 20c/68f. Fabulous - simply fabulous.
Fall is cooling down up here the past couple of days, and down to -1c last night. I am off to Regina next week for a few days, and they have been in an indian summer heat wave, which is disappearing just before I get there. Just my luck.
In 2003 when we visited my wife's family for the first time in 17 years, they had a proper heat wave -- record temperatures with high humidity factor. People died as a result. It was crazy -- they were really struggling.Squire wrote:I once read a title in the London Times about an August heat wave, which read "70 again today, no relief in sight."

But I digress ..... nice day today in Ottawa -- sun shining, a bit cool, but certainly sun roof weather.

I am wearing shorts today! (And they are neither tweed nor berry colored)
Chicagoland has been enjoying an absurdly beautiful week. Sunny and in the mid to upper 70's during the day, mid 50's overnight. Looks like the pattern will hold through the weekend too.
