RIP Christopher Hitchens

RIP Christopher Hitchens

Post by drmoss_ca »

Sad to say he's gone. Whether one agreed with him or not, a mind like his is to be treasured.

Dad to hear. I always enjoyed reading or hearing what he had to say as it provoked thought- an uncommon trait among the denizens of the modern media environment (at least here in the US). I'll miss him.
Best,
Chris

An extraordinary voice fueled by a first rate mind. He earned a spot on the World stage and remained in the limelight. An original human being in the company of cardboard cut outs.

One can't help but think how he might have reacted to expressions like "rest in peace" and "he's in a better place now."

RIP, Hitch.

When asked if he ever prayed, the outspoken atheist replied "Yes. I have prayed for an erection."

I doubt he's in a better place now but individuals have been known to change their song and dance at the last minute, so who knows..........

Aaannnnd here we go.

He didn't believe in Hell, so he didn't go there. Only people who believe in it are in danger of ending up there.

Stephen Fry offers his thoughts.
Of course there will be deranged people who will rejoice in their weird conviction of his eternal and infernal roasting. If hell has Christopher in it, then I’d like to reserve my place there now.

There really are no writer/polemicists of his quality left. His work was noticeably pre-internet/google; he seemed to have read everything and in depth. Newer reporters seem to engage with politics and history, even when well informed, on the level of soap opera gossip. He will be missed!

Well, not to start an argument, but the guy made a name for himself criticizing Mother Teresa!

If Mother Teresa's not good enough for you, who the heck is? Not me, that's for sure!

I am not one to share the hoopla surrounding him.

In the end, though, his life was equally as precious as any of us and his passing is a tragedy. May God rest his soul.

Hear is a link to the first of the videos of a two hour conversation between Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris while sitting around a table.

Available on YouTube at:

Do yourself a favor and take the time to view them.

Have to agree 100%. If heaven is full of "Christians" that rejoice in the fact that everyone who doesn't believe in their invisible friend in the sky will burn in some sort of hell, count me out.

Be good to other people and stop obsessing with other peoples choices in life.

As for all that: what Dr Moss cites in his sig. will do fine for me.
