Christmas Movies

Since I started a thread on Christmas music, I got thinking about how my family and I also enjoy watching Christmas themed movies. With young kids at home, we enjoy the usual cartoon classics, plus some other favorites like:

How the Grinch Stole Christmas. (the original one)
A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Christmas Carol. (Alastair Sim)
The Nativity Story
It's a Wonderful Life.

There are some others, but these are probably the ones we enjoy the most.

Any favorites?
Any ones you watch on Christmas Eve / Day?

We always watch:
A Christmas Story (1983)
Miracle on the 34th Street (1947)
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987 - actually a Thanksgiving movie)

In no particular order of perference:
Elf -- it simply makes me happy.
It's A Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street -- both versions
Child's Christmas in Wales -- not officially a "movie" but we have been watching it ever since it first showed on PBS & Global back in the 80s.
Alistair Sim Christmas Carol
Muppets Christmas Carol --- Michael Caine clearly enjoyed doing this movie
Mr Kruger's Christmas (like Child's Christmas .... not officially a movie, nevertheless it's an annual view for us every yuletide)
White Christmas --- just because Danny Kaye is so hilarious
Charlie Brown Christmas
Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer --- another classic
The Grinch ----- the original Boris Karloff narration is tops

We actually have a box full of Christmas DVDs --- and enjoy many others, but these above are pretty much the staples we always watch.

Can't beat Christmas-time --- I love the slowing-down of pace, getting ready for a lazy week or so with family and friends, and just thinking about how blessed and fortunate I am. God continues to be very, very good to me and my family.

A Christmas Carol

Not a movie, but the Nutcracker is a must. The best I ever saw was done by an outfit out of Seattle I believe it was.

It's a wonderful life....A reminder of the past and maybe similarities of today,in some respects. Great acting

A Christmas Carol (Alistair Sim)
A Christmas Story

There are few others I like to watch, but the above two are absolute "musts".

I had forgotten about that one -- we often watch that as well as the New Year's episode which also quite a hoot this festive time of year.

My father-in-law believes it is not Christmas...unless we have watched The Christmas Story.
