Re: What's up with the new board?
I believe there are many reasons for it. I'm quite thankful for it & have posted here more in the last hour than I have in the last few months!

Jim,
check out the posts by Dr Chris Moss, listed in the General Forum.
Basically Vince authorized and he and Chris set up an updated site in part to make it more attractive and to correct some prior problems
prospective new members were encountering when trying to join SMF.
Oversimplified explanation but check Chris" posts to get the chronology (all this happened within the last week) and also a sense of what
led to this rapid, welcome and somewhat exhilarating chain of events.
The most important consideration propelling the changes was possibly the sense that the old format and difficulties new members faced when
trying to join was inhibiting SMF's growth and discouraging new members to carry on the best of what SMF represents: intelligent, informed
exchanges of views, information and advice communicated in a gentlemanly , polite, friendly, non-judgmental manner and tone.
I was not authorized to make these statements; nor are they official policy, Just my sense of the events which evolved quickly over a very relatively
short time but have probably been brewing over a longer span. The expense was borne by others and the work by just a few, but the results seem
to have been well received, so far.

What's this? The first vote make it all go back to the way it was?
Kyle, let's just say it has been needed for a very long time, and a few things happened to let it finally occur. All the hard work has been done by Vince, who may need to lie down for a year or three as a result!

It's comforting to see him online and posting again. This is a good thing.

It will take some getting used to...but I love the look. Hopefully all of the issues that needed to be corrected are...and others can easily join in on the fun.
