Thanks for lowering the tone of the forum! Truly disgusting.

It was truely remarkable.

How someone could live with that curling up under their skin for all those years I can't understand. It had to be very painful. Why it didn't get infected and oozing puss I have no idea.

Well, having worked in a hospital Operating Room for several years, the vid wasn't as revolting as some found it...who am I kidding it
was eerrrggg

My reason for responding was the original diagnosis of a cyst. Well 25 years ago, during a routine company physical, a lump was discovered in
my neck, below the ear. The guy performing the exam (they told me he was an MD, tho the surgeon I later consulted thought he was possibly
a janitor who had strayed into the exam room) diagnosed it as a tumor, possibly a neck cancer).

The surgeon, a plastic surgeon specializing in face throat and neck cancers, immediately diagnosed it as a benign cyst, but recommended its
removal as it was resting on the parietal(?) gland (I wondered why I drooled so much while sleeping). Awake during the entire surgery, the
physician showed me the cyst and told me it contained mostly Hair of all things, something he said was quite common. It never occurred to me
to question him more closely on it's exact composition (awake but very sleepy). A required biopsy confirmed it was benign but possibly subject
to recurrence. It hasn't returned, yet!

Maybe the guy's original physician's diagnosis wasn't so far off!

Well, I clicked on it, and then clicked on one of the related videos.

I'm intrigued at the thought process that leaves an enormous black thing on a face for "literally months", and then decides to dig at it with tweezers and a video camera. I still feel hungry, and am about to take lunch. . .

That was pretty unpleasant. Let's all give thanks to Gillette!

Side note: I watched a couple of "botfly removal" videos (I had never heard of a 'botfly' before, so naturally I was curios) ... they were far more horrific than this.

Not bad, it must be a relief when the last of that hair came out. How could someone not notice it for so long on their face?

Yup, I just googled Human botfly removal and the videos are definitely interesting. Because it's a parasite, it's definitely a notch up on the disgusting meter.

I'm glad I don't live in the tropics.

I know we have botflies in Maine, but they're moose and horse specific, I think. Wikipedia did state that some cultures like to eat the bot larvae. I'll pass.
