A classy guy who had some great roles. The Rockford Files was one of my favorites.

I really like him. It's a great loss and makes me sad to hear it. He was one of the good guys, and he was an Oklahoman.

Yes, The Rockford Files was, IMO, the most memorable. Decent guy. What a shame.

A class act. Todays actors can't hold a candle to that generation of professionals in my opinion. RIP.

RIP. And, he was the original "Maverick" on TV. (I suddenly feel old.)

My favorite Garner role was in "The Americanization of Emily", which I believe he also considered his favorite film role.

High on my list of favorites, too.

The may have worked together on other films, but they were both in the Blake Edwards comedy "Victor Victoria", from 1982.

+1. "The Great Escape," too.

Garner's contract disputes with producers on both "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files" led to the end of the era where actors were in effect the property of a studio. He was also the first major star to do TV commercials. His Polaroid ads were classic.

Yup -- those Polaroid spots were classic ..... and admit it -- didn't you think that Garner and Mariette Hartley were married due to those ads? Fabulous stuff indeed.

As I probably mentioned earlier, I used to enjoy Rockford Files a few years ago. It's being replayed now on cable. We decided to watch an episode a few days ago, and brother, did it stink! :D :D :D

I gave DVDs of the first two seasons of Maverick to a couple of teenagers for Christmas. I hope they enjoy them as much as did!
