Whiskey Stones

Post by Straight Arrow »

Anyone ever used whiskey stones? Got some from my daughter & son-in-law for Christmas. They are one inch cubes of soapstone that you put in the freezer for a few hours then use them as an ice substitute. Cools your favorite spirits without watering down.

Yes, got some as a gift years ago. Fun to use as a novelty item but that's about it.

Never tried them, but I've read mixed reviews. Also, I don't like to cool my whisky, I feel it withdraws flavor.

Jim they're good for a laugh when a guest asks for whisky on the rocks but that's about it.

Somebody invented rocks that people buy to put in perfectly good whiskey? Seriously, probably a clever gift idea for the drinking man or woman.

When I have whisky on the rocks, i enjoy the slight dilutative effect of the ice. Otherwise, just order straight up.

I agree Jim, if all wanted was cold I'd leave a bottle in the freezer.

Are they similar to kidney stones? They sound about as useful. :)

Larger than that but it still wouldn't be advisable to swallow one.
