Just Call Me Grandad ..... Again.
Just Call Me Grandad ..... Again.
After the birth of our second grandchild -- another granddaughter -- last November, our 1st grandson was born on Friday. This makes 3 in total for us now --2 granddaughters and one grandson.
While he doesn't share my birthday (I was hoping he'd come when I turned 56 a week and a half ago) we were both born on Good Friday -- 56 years apart, and that's special in and of itself.
Mom and son are doing extremely well -- especially for a first child. There were some complications that required an ambulance ride to the hospital for Mom from the birthing centre here in Ottawa to monitor blood levels but they were home by night time. Dad, on the other hand, picked up a stomach bug the day of the birth, and ended up in bed most of the weekend. They live only a few minutes up the road from us, and we have had the great pleasure to be there and help as much as we can -- my wife actually moved in for the past few days, but comes home tonight as they seem to be all back on an even keel.
Life is what happens when you're making other plans -- and who really cares. Nothing like the birth of a grandchild to put things in perspective. Little Chubber as I affectionately call him -- weighed in at 9lb, 4.5 oz -- so not a lightweight ..... lovely little lad. Bought him a seersucker flat cap the day before the birth --- 'cos every grandson of an anglophile needs a flat cap!

Excellent news Wendell, excellent. The cap is a nice touch.

Thanks gents -- he is a gem, our Little Chubber.
Re: Just Call Me Grandad ..... Again.
Congratulations, you're catching me; we have 5. He is a Little Chubber indeed: our most recent is a girl, born last September, weighing in at 6lbs 3oz, but she's now closing in on 18lbs. Enjoy the chubby little boy.
