Squire: case in point - in order to enjoy properly Thing #1's birthday, I watched myself carefully all week and snuck in an extra day's run. Thus when the pizza and cake showed up, I turned a blind eye to nutritional value - dietary dogmatism leads directly to binging, whence reversal of weight loss and back to old habits. We all need to let off steam, as it were.

I put on some weight back in the UK last month, but have been controlling my scales for a few years now, and feel so much the better for it. I got back into the habit of having an annual physical, around December/January and that has kept me more than honest.
