Phew! Done.
Phew! Done.
My wife and I came to the University of Notre Dame in August 2011 to start my PhD program. After five and a half years of work (and having 2 kids along the way), I defended my dissertation in December. I'll officially graduate in May, but for all intents and purposes I'm finished. Just wanted to share the good news and wish everyone here a happy new year.
Regards,
Mike

I'm late reading this thread but congratulations Mike. Sounds like you will have a lot more opportunities soon too.

Thanks, gents. I've been extremely busy with side jobs and the *lovely* process of finding a *real*, full-time job once my funding runs out...

Re: Phew! Done.
Just checking in, gents - it's been a while, and I've missed the place.
I had to wait until May to formally graduate, but here's proof it actually happened. I toyed with the idea of pranking my family by telling them I'd been accepted to law school...I've been in some academic program or another for the past 25 years, what's a few more??
