Wow, that's really fascinating! I've been using my small Vulfix 2197 (20mm knot, 50mm rise) with three-Ts creams with no trouble, but hadn't yet tried a soap.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting my SMF Shavemac brush now... I had no idea that the denseness and length of the hair made so much difference!

Holy cow! Joel you have documented my experience to a tee. I never thought that the brush could be such a factor, but you have obviously demonstrated that fact very clearly.

I have not had any real issues using creams or other premium soaps using my Vulfix - the only inconsistencies arise with the QED and also with Williams soap. I had forgone all my other creams/soaps for the last two weeks - determined to make the QED work!

I look forward to the SMF Shavemac even more now.

Thank you Joel for taking the time to think my problem out and to do this...I was beginning to feel like a real loser for not being able to work with the QED and it was getting downright depressing (can you imagine getting depressed over shaving soap?) .

I've also taken note of the many suggestions posted in reply over in the Creams/Soaps forum and have posted some results over there.

Thanks again - that's what makes this place great!

So I guess you could say Joel that all simpson brushes aren't created equal?

Joel,
Can you tell the size of the knot on the PJ?
Rather interesting. I find my Vulfix #41 has no trouble building ample rich lather with QED Essentials... Interesting.

how does the kent line of brushes compare to the others you have mentioned as far as density of bristles. i have no problem with the kent bk8 on cremes or lathering the QED shave stick this morning on my face.

Bring on the forum brush! I can't wait to get my hands on a shavemac so I can dive into my QED soaps with abandon. I love the lather with the soap and my SR212, but it is a bit of work to get it going....

Is it here yet?
