Portland Head at Cape Elizabeth is the most photographed US lighthouse. It has a great storied history - and is the topic of Longfellow's poem The Lighthouse - a true classic in American literature.Blue As A Jewel wrote:... I like the lighthouse ...
I have taken more pictures of this place than I can recall -- and each and every year we go back, I take more. We've been going for 20 years now and I still love adding to my collection of shots.

I always wonder how one would tell. It is said the most photographed place in Nova Scotia is the Peggy's Cove lighthouse, but even better was the story that a wrecked old farmhouse on Nuttby Mountain was the second most photographed site in Nova Scotia. How does one know? Anyway, I took a pic as it is close to Tatamagouche:jww wrote:Portland Head at Cape Elizabeth is the most photographed US lighthouse.
