I grew up in the Niagara Penninsula, where the cherry blossoms burst forth each and every April. I loved wondering through the blossom-covered orchards every year from childhood to my teen years. I moved away nearly 30 years ago, and when I return, which is rare, I find the cherry orchards have been replaced by vineyards and wineries. Some find that progress, but it saddens me to see the Garden City and its surroundings changed so drastically from that place I knew so well in my younger years.
