Always liked the scene in The Color Purple where Whoopi Goldberg is about to slice Danny Glover but is stopped. Looked like it could have been one close shave.

This is from Westworld. It seems that people are always getting interrupted when they are trying to shave in the movies!

Applying the lather with a stiff looking brush.

Beginning the shave.

Then comes the interruption!
Image
Oh well - at least the whiskers on that side of the face will be thoroughly prepped!

I saw this in the video store the other day.
Now I notice people shaving EVERYWHERE I go.
It looks like one of those nationwidecampus remake injectors although it is more than likely just a regular cartridge.

I finally saw the trailer for the upcoming Sweeney Todd movie!
This will be a MUST SEE for a shave geek like me!
He is waving around a very nice str8 throughout the preview:

These pics are from the 1982 movie "The Thing."
No one shaves in the movie, yet there is a nice scene with a str8 razor.
They find a body at a burned down post:

In its' frozen hand is a str8 razor. The long red thing is part of the gross stuff that comes out when the alien sprouts:

Ouch! He is gonna need something stronger than a styptic pencil or alum block for that shaving cut!:

What kind of razor is Jack Lemmon using in this scene? Judging by the look of it and considering the year the movie was made, it could very well be a SuperSpeed from the fifties, couldn't it?

In "Star Trek - Insurrection," Riker and Troi rekindle their relationship in the tub, with Troi shaving off Riker's beard.
Image
Much to Riker's delight, Troi drops the edge of the straight on his cheek, pauses a moment, then draws it perpendicularly across his skin.

At least she's going with the grain...

This may have been mentioned already (haven't read the whole thread), but in the Golden Compass, there is a scene where Daniel Craig is shaving with a straight razor. I saw it this pass weekend. Kind of brief, but there still.

I remember when I first saw that movie. The actress was hot. Heck, the whole movie was hot.

Even now I'm not looking at Brando shaving, I'm looking at Maria Schneider.

It was an in-your-face controversial movie. As I recall Brando says to Schneider -- "I could replace you with a hard chair and a case of hemorrhoids." I don't think so, Mr. Brando!

I notice Battlestar Galactica has that nice Merkur product placement. Darn. Makes me want a Merkur Vision. Just what I need -- another razor!

The scene in The Untouchables especially with the Hitchcockian overhead camera shot makes me think of the real-life murder of Albert Anastasia, ironically head of Murder Inc, in a swanky barbershop in NYC in 1957. I'm sure seeing that movie I was ready for a reenactment of the real-life event.

Glenn, yes I noticed this one the other day when I was watching the DVD. Unfortunately I don't have the technological know-how to get the screenshots....

Thanks for putting this up.

That's a heck of a steep angle.

Most movies have the latest stuff in them due to product placement or whatever - so it is more than likely just a regular 50's or 1960 (the year the film was made) SuperSpeed, since they really did not make anything else other than the Tech and Adjustable around that time.
And it was definitely not one of those.
I'm not completely sure, maybe this this chart will help:

I was watching a trailer on the television yesterday (Christmas Day) for 'The Terminal' starring Tom Hanks as a beleagured traveller, stuck in an American airport. There is a scene where he is in the bathroom shaving with another chap, and Tom Hanks is using a DE razor. From the quick shot they showed, it appeared to be a Tech or something similar.

How about Angie Dickinson giving Dean Martin a straight shave in Rio Bravo?

Gareth, thanks for bringing that up! I have had that movie for a while now and never knew about the DE scene because I have not watched it since my journey into wetshaving.

Churchill, 2clfrwrds, and everyone else - thanks for keeping this discussion alive! ( I am a big Rat Pack/ Dean Martin fan. His daughter comes into the Birmingham airport sometimes but I am too nervous to talk to her about him)
I am curious to see how long it can get! I have been adding to it for well over a year now.

It is definitely some kind of tech!
Image
The bigger guy with the cartridge shaver starts taking the exact same strokes that Tom Hanks does:
Image
First the left upper lip, then the right chin:
Image
Then Mr. Hanks annoyingly looks at cartridge guy:
Image
He stops shaving so cartridge guy will stop copying him.
Image
The scene ends with cartridge guy going ahead and shaving on his own.
