I'm glad to see it alive and well on the M Monochrom:
Leica M Monochrom, Macro Elmar M 90mm
It even glowed enough to thaw the estuary:
Leica M9, Elmarit 24mm

Very nice Chris. Looking out across the way, one gets the urge to hop into a boat and row across for a while (notwithstanding the ice and the cold). Is that practical for those of you who are fortunate enough to live in the area?

Very practical, although there's not much on the other side: the island is uninhabited. I have watched a moose swim across from there, and in the mornings before sunrise a pack of coyotes celebrate their kill. When the tide is in a kayak is nice for exploring the odd corners and going up-river. There is a dredged channel at our side of the river, which goes all the way out to the bay. I used to keep a 26' sloop moored below the house and motor out to the bay for a sail, but sold it for lack of time.
And to go from the sublime to the ridiculous, here's an iPhone photo taken two days ago at a nursing home I visit each Friday morning:
He might look as is he's nailed onto his perch, but he raised his head and gave me the hairy eyeball, decided I wasn't worth waking up for and went back to sleep.
