Nagano & Yamanashi Prefecture

Post by Araner » Wed Nov 12, 2014 3:58 pm

We extended last weekend by a couple of days and visited Nagano & Yamanashi Prefecture for a little R&R and sightseeing. Here are a few scenes from that trip.

A Shinto shrine near Lake Suwa in Nagano prefecture

While I am not of the Shinto faith I do enjoy visiting the shrines. The atmosphere around them is so tranquil.

Autumn in all it’s splendor

From there we went to Enzan city in Yamanashi Prefecture to visit another shrine

The gingko nut tree leaves are dazzling

As one walks around the shrine all stress seems to just melt away

This gate makes a nice picture frame

Nearby the shrine is a farm house where they peel persimmons and hang them to dry

And one last look before moving on

Thanks for taking a look!

I did not know of that persimmon's peeling tradition. And you're right, when you enter a temple all the stress of everyday life just seems to melt away... it's a somewhat magical experience IMO.

Oh and beautiful photos, BTW!

I really like this group of photos, Mike. They are like a "study" of the temple and the persimmons.
