I've finally gone for the hard stuff. A large format view camera, which folds flat and weighs 3lb. With that, a lens on a lens board, a cable release, a tripod, a darkcloth, a loupe for focusing, some film holders and my spotmeter, I'll be able to travel light, won't I?



The first negatives are in the Rodinal at the moment. More news at ten.

Admittedly I know little technically, but I do know you've got something special there and I think in your hands, the remark about Ansel Adams isn't too far from accurate.

Very convincing there maestro. If you want to get really hardcore about it I hear Ansell's former assistant is looking for a job.

I think those shelves are ready for their close-up, Mr. DeMille.

I managed to figure out how to cram the view camera, lenses, film holders, tripod, dark cloth, loupe, spotmeter, cable release and sanity pills into my Crumpler Sinking Barge and marched out. "I might be some time" I said to the cats, who shrugged their shoulders and serenely continued evincing supreme unconcern. On the other side of the village is an old wharf where schooners were once built, but the only thing launched there now is the odd kayak in the summer. It's mostly used for picnics and the important business of keeping mosquitos and blackflies well fed. It was -10ºC and the wind was gusting around 70km/hr, so it was all rather bracing.
