Bargepole, that gets my vote for the best post of the week. Congrats on finding a new tub of Coate's Rose! Long may she lather.

Michael, Aha! Lurking in Maitlands, were you, perhaps? And, you were darned right! We're not exactly thick with Coate's creams over here either. I've taken to hoarding mine, and the only Rose I have is one of those pitifully small tubes. Guess it's time to send you another PM, lol
Friday:

Gillette TV Superspeed & Swedish Gillette
Rooney White, medium
Taylors Almond shave cream
D R Harris's shave stick
D R Harris's A/S Milk ( old version )
Trumper's Spanish Leather

Unusually close shave, for some reason.

Saturday:

Vulfix brush
T&H West Indian Limes shaving cream
Merkur HD
Feather blade [1]
Sharps Kid Glove Aftershave Gel

[1] This was my first shave with a Feather blade. I waited until a Saturday to shave in case of bloodbath. There was no bloodbath, just an awesome shave.

Saturday:
- Merkur HD w/Feather
- C&E Sweet Almond <-- Which I am really liking.
- Corn Husker's Lotion
- T&H Trafalgar

1 pass with the grain, 1 pass against...1 too few. :7(

And yes, Richard, the kids formed into a column and rushed the bathroom door, so I was both rushed and not finished. But nice and close and smooth anyway!

Also, I have been routed: the bathroom counter is so crowded with other people's stuff that I finally gave up and grabbed my travel bathroom bag. The good thing is that now I can carry around as many *ahem* undisclosed purchases as I like until they move to "What, that old thing?" status!

Saturday:

Progress
"Swede"
MamaBear patchouli soap
C&E best badger brush
Trumpers Coral Skin Food
Pinaud Clubman A/S as a cologne

Pretty nice shave.

I got a haircut this morning, my normal barber wasn't open. I have an alternate guy I go to. He doesn't use Clubman talc on his brush, so after my shower, I used some. I then finished with some Clubman A/S so I had that "barbershop" smell. Very pleasant!

Be quiet Gordon damnit or I won't even read your PM let alone go to censored on your behalf.

Speaking for myself... "over-weight"?

Bargepole was the pseudonym of a column I used to write in the now-defunct Punch magazine -- as in "I wouldn't touch it with a". I hadn't thought of the riparian pleasures of Jerome.

Saturday:

C&E Sienna Soap *
C&E Best Badger brush
Merkur Progress w/ Israeli (1st pass)
Feather AC w/ Super Pro (2nd pass)
ASB blend: Corn Husker's Lotion, aloe gel, witch hazel (2:2:1)
Trumper's Spanish Leather

Very smooth results; both blades were new today.

Doug

* Having made a point of using only QED soaps for a while now, I'm not sure what possessed me to go buy some C&E Sienna yesterday, except that it must have been nostalgia. It was about a year ago that I began exploring shaving soaps, and my first buy was Sienna.

Saturday

Prep #1: Acyclovir. Long pause. Espresso (velluto nero from the Algerian Coffee Shop, Soho): soak top lip.

Prep #2: Acyclovir cream, soap, water, Duchy Lime Conditioner [1], Acyclovir cream.

Shave:
QED Espresso stick
More QED Espresso stick
Chubby #2 Super
Moss scuttle
More QED Espresso stick
\| + Swede
Alum block
Essential Arabica coffee oil
Old Spice A/S
Repeat <Prep #1>
Acyclovir
Coral skin food

As the pharmacalogically-aware among you may have realised, this shave celebrates the First Cold Sore of Winter. Essential oil of coffee is said to help. Acyclovir definitely does help. Going to NUKE this little bugger (which I should feel attached to since I inherited it from Daddy, who inherited it from HIS Daddy, who inherited it from his Grandfather etc etc: the Family Herpes. But I'd rather bury it in the Family Vault, frankly. They're vile things and GET IN THE WAY OF A FELLOW'S SHAVE. Un. For. Giv. Able.)

Saturday:

Gillette '58 TV Superspeed / Wilkinson blade
Geo F. Trumper's Violet Shave Cream
Caswell-Massey Number Six Aftershave Balm

Today was my first experience with one of the Wilkinson blades I received from Craig as part of a group buy. This was part of the Great Wilkinson Blade Controversy of 2006. I must say that I enjoyed the shave immensely. Very close, very smooth, very comfortable. It's too bad that these appear to be old stock, and will no longer be available at some point. Still, nothing lasts forever, I suppose. Anyway, it was great shave, and I would purchase more of these as part of a group buy from blademail.
