I agree. I am having a soap "thing" as well.scarface911 wrote:Thanks Richard, I still have a semester to go but I'm getting there.rustyblade wrote: Congrats Rajeeve, and what an excellent choice in shave soap to celebrate with.
I find that I am using soaps more often then creams lately. they work so much better for me. As soon as my creams run out I'll be replacing them with their soap counterpart if one is available. Now only if T&H made West Indian Limes and 1805 Soaps this world would be a better place ::sigh::.
However J.M Frasers will still me in the rotation for as long as its made

I've read in the past that some gents had trouble with Mitchell's/Kent and I think their problems stemmed from not getting the right lather. It isn't easy at first. You can keep adding water to this soap and get mounds of seemingly good looking lather, but it isn't shave-worthy. Keep it a bit on the dryer side, nicely thick and pearlized. Apply to the face and then if you feel it is too dry add a touch more water to the brush and work into the face again. The longer you spend with this soap on your face just makes your skin and beard softer with no irritation whatsover (unless you have a lanolin sensitivity that is -- sorry Gordon!). If I didn't look like a complete prat I would walk around all day with this lather on my face, it is so skin friendly.Brett G wrote: Simpson T3

I've got the Wool Fat right where I want it now.
Remember, breast feeding women put lanolin (Wool Fat) on their nipples to keep them umm... supple... and prevent the skin from cracking. So you know lanolin must be good. Right?

Thursday:
Vulfix #2233
Proraso Red
Gillette slim adjustable
Feather blade (shave #4)
Nivea Sensitive ASB
I shaved this morning to get the routine back to normal after last night's impromptu shave. So, I ratcheted the adjustable all the way down to "1" just to touch up any rough spots.

Richard,
You are absolutely right. With enough water the Wool Fat can be whipped up pretty tall. The lather looks impressive but has way too many bubbles and doesn't give much protection. I actually had to go back to hand mixing this stuff. Loading the brush and transfering it to a bowl or scuttle results in too much air. What I do is load up, pump & scrub the brush against my left hand and keep adding little bits of water until I get a fluid pearlized lather. I'll wipe the excess on my forearm and squeeze the rest out of the brush. Then I work the pile of lather back & forth in my hands until I get the big bubbles out. Once it's ready to go I load the brush back up and lather my face. It seems like a big production but it really isn't and is the best way to handle the Wool Fat. The lather is plenty wet enough without the excess air.
So let's see; Wool Fat is skin friendly, smells good, is fun to say, and is good for women's nipples. Does anyone need another reason?

Gillette 1940's Super Speed w/Derby blade
Bic Metal for upperlip
Mystery brush from "dgifts2005" on ebay
AOS Lavender cream
QED Lavender H2O
Em's Lavender a/s & moisture balm
Tommy Bahama edt
Really liking the Super Speed/Derby blade combo. Very little irritation and no nicks at all.
The mystery brush is a very nice brush and one that I would have no problems using with every shave.
I have to get some more AOS cream as I only have a bit left in the small travel sized tube.
Raining like heck here in Pittsburgh so the Tommy Bahama edt seemed like a decent fit.
Have a great day.

Taylor's Rose Shave Cream
D.R. Harris Arlington Aftershave Milk

So tell me about the Violetta scent, gents. It's obviously not too feminine, or you wouldn't be wearing it. Is it a straight violet scent, or is something else going on in there? Perhaps I need to check out my wife's Penhaligon's collection. She may well have a scent sample of it.

Hello Bob,
Penh Violetta is becoming more and more a unisex fragrance. It is not overly feminine and behaves itself in an intimacy circle without being pushy or overbearing. It starts out as violets and finishes hours later (on me) as violets, not too sweet, but sweet enough to remind you it is violet.
It is much, much longer lasting than Trumper Ajaccio Violets (on me, 15 minutes later and it was gone).
This is the perfect compliment to Trumper's Violet cream or soap. Layer it with Violetta talc and Violetta body cream and your violet experience will linger well past your bedtime.
Worth trying, Bob. And remember, both you and your wife can wear it at the same time with no clashing.
Cheers,
Richard
