ISD December 3rd TVs and Sandalwood

Post by Gatorade »

Well today is the last ISD of 2006. A really special combination was chosen. The 1958 Gillette TV Edition Razor. Also a nice woody Sandalwood to keep the thoughts warm in this cold December. Post up your pics, you know we love to see the combinations and creativity. Heck Gordon may even be able to join in this one! :D

No TV razor, but I did buy a new TV for my living room yesterday. :D

Vulfix #2233
C&E Sandalwood shaving cream
Merkur HD
Feather blade
C&E Sienna ASB

The shaving cream lathered up really really nice, and I like the scent a lot.

Nice way to keep the theme!

Gillette '58 TV Superspeed / Gillette "Swede"
Caswell-Massey Sandalwood Shave Cream (used brushlessly)
Caswell-Massey Tricorn Aftershave
Caswell-Massey Sandalwood Deodorant

I didn't have any straightforward sandalwood cologne, but C-M states that Tricorn's top note is "prized Bangalore sandalwood". Sounds good to me. Anyway, it blended well with the C-M shave cream (which has a scent that lingers post-shave), and their deodorant.

Anyone using a 1954 TV Superspeed today?

Nope. I used the 58' today. I left my 54' Z3 sitting in the blue box.

Love that TOBS Herbal Sandalwood. Nice woodsy herbal sandalwood. Taylor's soaps seem to fly under the radar which is a shame. I am glad that my T12 never sold either. I rediscovered it and realized what a great brush it is. I really like its characteristics but is a bit on the large side. A T8 will remedy that. Some days you feel like a gentle scrubber.

Got Wood 8)

But didn't even notice ISD so today's shave is pure coincidence (or morphic resonance if you want to be fancy) (or just that sandalwood is nice and warming on a cold wet blustery English day.)

No TV so went for THE BURN with El Slanto and a Feather. Everyone else is a COWARD. (Note use of insulting bravado to disguise envy.)

Image

Coates Sandalwood
Floris Santal ASB
Swish of QED Sandalwood stick for touch-up
Trumper Sandalwood cologne
And a little pre-dinner spritz of Creed Santal Impérial.

I almost felt intimidated. Nice pic! Almost looks like an old advertisement.

Ah ha! I finally not only had all the 'right stuff', but more importantly...I remembered! ( thank ye, Charlie, for the timely reminder last night ).
Sunday:

1958 Gillette TV Special Superspeed & French Wilkinson blade
Plisson #14 European White
Trumper's Sandalwood hard shaving soap
D R Harris's A/S Milk ( old formula )
Out of Taylor's Sandalwood cologne, so, Brooks Brothers 1818, which is similiar, I think.

I know just the one.

I once asked a very famous Movie Personality what was the nicest compliment she'd ever been paid. She didn't even have to pause for thought. "It was X", she said, naming a well-known producer; "Apparently he said to someone 'Oh, I do so love her. She's... she's like... she's like a clean scrubber.'"

(Note for Americans: A "scrubber" is slang for an affable but unkempt round-heeled gal who is, shall we say, indiscriminately obliging, not for advantage but for sheer fun.)

Closest I could come. 1958 Fat Boy on 3 with a fresh US Personna blade. My wife and I tried to locate some sandalwood essential oil to add to the Proraso, but couldn't track it down. Hence the display.
