Wednesday:
Tabac soap
Rooney 2 finest
Slant + Feather
I see what you chaps mean about the Slant and the Feather being made for each other. Therefore...
Thursday:
Tabac soap
Rooney 2 finets
Slant + Feather.
Yup. Not a flash in the pan.

Dominic, Yep, simple and most effective, I agree.
Thursday:
Gillette HD Rocket & Swedish Gillette blade
AOS Fine Badger
Trumper's Rose hard shaving soap
D R Harris's A/S Milk ( old formula )
Trumper's Bay Rum
Note: this older AOS brush is actually very good for hard soaps. It's from when they were still labeled, 'Made in Germany', and is, in fact, very like the upper end Shavemacs I've seen. About as dense as a Rooney Super, firmer then a Vulfix, very domed crown, decently made, about 24mm knot. A Vulfix Super is better for creams, but for hard soaps this brush is very effective and easy to use.

Friday's Theme: American Old School
-----------------------------------------------------
Not to turn this into a contest, but out Archie Bunker this!
1959 Gillette Fatboy w/ US Personna blade
Burma Shave drugstore boar brush
Williams soap (in a coffee mug)
Alum block
Homer Simpson like histrionics
Ice Blue Aqua Velva A/S (glass bottles rock)
In the hair: Brylcreem
Makes me wish I still had my 1966 Plymouth Belvedere to drive to work. I'd stop at the diner at 11th and Peoria for steak and eggs first. (Karl will know what I mean.)

Scott, you told me it cut close, so naturally I ignore the good advice and grabbed my Feather AC (loaded with a 2 day old Feather Pro). Yowza! Close shave! It is a great soap though. Nice and slick and a good lather. I made the lather really thick like I normally would with a hard shave soap, but it still cut close.ScottS wrote:Glad you got it! I enjoyed it myself this morning. It's among my closest shaving products.rustyblade wrote:
Thank you ScottS for the Gold-Dachs!
Jim, what I said above The scent isn't love at first sniff, but it is a good soap. Probably not one of the most cost-effective soaps given its size and scarcity (especially if you have to get it shipped to Canada from Classic Shaving for example). It cuts close like a glycerin soap.

Gillette '58 TV with a Swede
Body Shop Cream
Sabrooney finest
Laurel and Hardy (on the subject of SOTD), Fred and Ginger, Abbott and Costello, Morecombe and Wise, Big and Rich, Jenna and Rocco, Ali and Frazier - some combinations are timeless and unbeatable. To this I have to add, in agreement with all who have tried it, the TV and the Swede. Perfection.

Thursday night:
Went for the SCS Almond this time, but otherwise the same as last night. My lather wasn't quite as nice but very serviceable.
Unfortunately, I got cocky and went too fast, so I've got some tenderness on my neck. The fifth-day Derby might have had something to do with it too.
Tonight I rest. Then I start all over on Saturday night with a new blade. Think I'll try a Merkur this time.
Oh, and you'll all be happy to know that we're replacing our digital camera with Christmas money, so soon there will be no more cameraphone shots!
