January ISD Announcement

Post by Gatorade »

Votes are cast. International Shave Day (ISD) for January 1, 2007 is the Gillette Slim Adjustable and Truefitt & Hill products. Bonus points given to users of the SMF III brush as well.

ISD is a day we set aside to all try and use a similar set up.

So my SOTD will probably look like this barring a last minute switch to the Lime:

Monday January 1st, 2007 ISD
Hot Shower No Scrub

SMF III Rooney Super Silvertip
Truefitt & Hill Almond
Gillette Slim Adjustable
Derby 1st shave
3 Pass 3,3,5
T&C 9

Causwell Massey 1752 Almond ASB

Now that is a shave to look forward to!

...

SMF III Rooney Finest Silvertip

...
Nifty--

I can probably do all of this, if I clean of an adjustable I have, but haven't had the urge to use-- but I'll probably stick to the Feather AC, and maybe T&H Limes. Hopefully, I'll have the SMF III in my grubby paws by then.

I see you've promoted it to Rooney's Finest!

Charlie, Okay, very good. Unfortunately, I will be flying back from NJ to Tampa on 1/1 and that is not the set-up I will have with me. However, I can catch up on 1/2 with:

My Gillette Slim Adustable & Tesco blade
Truefitt & Hill Lavender shave cream

Should be a fine shave.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be using a LHSA though.

I thought I was the only one who know enough to seek Left Handed South American barbers. I don't know why, but they know something the rest of us don't

:D

With all the razors I have, I am missing the long adjustable. I have a Fatboy and a Long Handle Slim Adjustable.

Woo-hoo! In all the way on this one! T&H Almond for me, too. Thanks for putting this together, Charlie.

I'm going to be out of town tomorrow and the next day, so if I don't get a chance to post my SOTISD, here is what I've packed:

Vulfix 2233
T&H West Indian Limes shaving cream
1962 Gillette slim adjustable
Fresh Derby blade
Styptic pencil (to taste)
Pinaud Clubman AS

Happy New Year and Happy ISD to all!

I had a thought about ISD...Why don't we incooperate a couple of additional 'rules'.

First, NO two items can be from the same country, if you have to substitute an item on the list then it also may not share a country of origin.

ex. list: Merkur HD razor (Germany)
Feather blades (Japan)
Proraso/Omerga Boar Brush (Italy)
Musgo Real cream (Portugal)
GFT Coral SKin Food (England)

Second, why not either have one on the 1st of every month, make it a week long, or a maybe even a month long once a year instead.

Tim, the problem with so many variables it makes it difficult for many gents to follow... Especially for those of us who like the English stuff!

I s..u...p...p...o...s...e.. :(

Seriously, I just thought that would make it truly "international". I concede to the logistic of it being difficult for some or maybe most to follow.

Maybe we could try something like that for the 1st of Jan 2008 and give everyone plenty of extra time to acquire whatever they might need. Also, I did not realize, at the time of my original post, that it was already a monthly event.

I am still very new after all, less than a month...
