My word, Gator-Who?--

However did you get an SMFIII brush, with only 1 post to your name?

I was planning to boycott this ISD, but your post changed my mind!

Best regards,
Glenn

Hi Gator.

Nasty shave today

Gillette Slimboy razor
Derby Extra blade
Apothecary style 3 large finest brush
T&H Almond shave cream
Thayers rose witch hazel
T&H Trafalgar AS Balm
AOS Alum block

This shave reminded me why I'm weaning myself off of Gillette razors.
Lots of weepers, I don't think I will be buying any more Derbys after my few hundred run out
Had to roll out the much neglected Alum block for this one........

Rooney S1
Gillette 1970 black handled adjustable
Feather blade

Thayer's Lavender
Coral Skin Food
Knize Ten EdT

I took one for the team- I really don't like this razor, and got 3 small nicks. Anything for world peace I suppose.

I don't have a slim boy, so I dug out the fat boy. T&H soap! I don't have any T&H cream!

Happy New Year everyone and thanks to Charlie for keeping the ISD going!

Edit: I would like to add that I made my super-thick soap lather and this is the first time I have used a DE using that lather technique! The results were superb! Domenic mentioned a few days ago that it looks like it shouldn't work. You think you would need a wetter, slicker lather. Not at all! The "dryer" lather has plenty of slip and provides lots of protection. This technique has really changed the way I shave!

Reg, FWIW, personally, I don't think that the Feather blades mesh that well with the Gillette razors. The Swedes, UK Wilkinsons, and Israeli Personnas seem to me to work much better.
Monday:

Gillette Slim Boy adjustable & Tesco blade
Simpson Tulip #3
T&H Lavender shave cream
D R Harris's A/S Milk
Trumpers Wild Fern

I haven't used any of my Gillette adjustables in quite some time. I've been sticking mainly with that TV model, and lately the superb HD Rocket, so it was a 'homecoming' of sorts for me. Did the passes set on 3, 3, and 2, as I usually do with Gillette adjustables, and got an excellent shave. About the same as I usually get with my favourite fixed blade models. So, thanks to Charlie for setting this up, and a Happy New Year to all!

My first ISD!

Gillette Slim Adjustable (4/3/3)
Israeli Personna (day 2 on this one)
C&E Best Badger
T&H Almond shave cream
Olay Quench moisturizer

A pleasure, and it was extra cool knowing that thous^h^h^h^h^hhundr^h^h^h^h^hdoz^h^h^ha few of you guys were shaving with similar items. I hope to be able to participate in more ISDs in the future.

I usually use the Feathers with my Rocket, SS and Fatboy, and am happy with them. I recently ditched my IPs and Derbys, but have never tried the Swedes. I think that will be my next blade purchase.

Reg, Ah. This probably isn't the place to go into it, but I can't help wondering why your Fat Boy would work okay, but the slightly trimmer model apparently doesn't. But, shaving's weird, we all know that ( chuckle ).

Pretty good shave, although I think I'm coming down with something: woke up with a
headache, bleary eyes -- even though I felt great yesterday. Black coffee seems to help...

monday,

olde apothecary shop finest brush
truefitt & hill luxury shaving soap
gillette rocket SS/feather blade
d. r. harris milk a/s (old formula)
C&E lavender water

gordon, you seem to be very fond of the so-called gillette swedes. how sharp are they? in between an israeli and a feather perhaps? i have tried derby, israeli personnas and merkur at one point or another and i keep going back to feather blades.

happy new year gentlemen!

Sergio, The so-called 'Swedish Gillette' blades are very sharp, perhaps as sharp as the Feathers. If not, then they are very close. But I, personally find them to be smoother cutting, less likely to cause any irritation, and longer lasting as well. Needless to say, YMMV. They seem to be an especially good 'fit' with many of the classic Gillette TTO models.
