ISD March 1st 2007 Announcement "S" Shave.

Post by Str8G8r »

The ISD for March 1st is as follows:

The theme is "S"

St. Charles Shaves hard soap in a wood bowl
Shavemac Brushes
Slim Gillette Adjustable
Sweedish Gillette Blade
St. Charles Shaves AS

Click the pics for St. Charles Shave and Shavemac. As far as the blades I need someone to post up where they can be bought because I don't know where they can be bought.

Let's see how many complete matches we get! If not then feel free to substitute. I will be using the St. Charles Shave Almond Soap, great stuff! I will probably be using Skin Food for an aftershave as I don't have any St. Charles After Shave. Let's see some pics from this month as well! Get your camera ready and show us what you got!

Charlie, Well, I'm really out of luck with this one. Only have the razor and the blades out of the whole list. Call me in April ( chuckle ).

Spiffy. This is a good time to pick up Saint Charles Shave products during the white sale.

I am also interested in knowing how to get some Swedes.

For April, we will be limited to shaving with our left hands while standing on the right foot, with tap water at exactly 112 degrees F.

I'll have to make some substitutions.

I can do SCS soap (with no wooden bowl) but I'll have to make do with a Surrey brush and a Superspeed or Super Adjustable with the Swede.

Still, I'm in there with you! Thanks for doing this every month. It's a lot of fun trying to fit into the rules.

Edit: Given ichabod's suggestion on the February ISD thread:
You've got me there.
Okay Charlie - you reading this?
Include a beer with each ISD specification from here on in.
I suggest a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

I just have the Swedish Gillette as they are available at the local supermarket. If “S” is the theme, can I go with the SMFIII brush (if I get it before the end of the month :?), the Sticky, some Sienna soap and Santal ASB?

Don't feel bad Gordon. I only have the blades. My only Gillette adjustables are Fatboys.

Of course all S product are acceptable substitutions. I just didn't want to put SMF and Super Speed up there again as we just did it. Guys remember that you don't have to have all the things listed and sometimes the Substitutions are fun as well!

Substitute list
Skin Food
Sticky
SMF
Santal
Sienna
Sweet Almond Oil cream/soap
Please add any others blelow...

So anything that's Slick also qualifies?

Anything that begins with S I always tell people to try and stick with the basic elements and substitute from there. I figured by allowing the substitutions more people would participate even if they don't have all the items they probably have one or two that would carry the theme. So my answer is if Sgets you to jump in then jump away. I really want to see more pics up for these. If it is hard to take a pic in the morning then you can take it some other time and load it when you post. You know what you have so it isn't like it will be a suprise come March 1.

Also if you have never tried Sue's stuff then this is a great reason to. It is top notch and you know the source of it as well. Not many of us have ever spoken with the maker of Taylor's or C&E or any of the other big brands, but to talk with the maker of the product all you have to do is PM her or call her up. Works for me!

Given that I was the one who inspired said quote, I'll Stick with Sierra Nevada, but substitute the Brown Ale...or even better;Bigfoot Ale.

P.S. I just got my Saint Charles stuff (got tired of doing the 's' thing). I went with the savory rose soap and asb. It smells great.

Ok guys a little less than 3 weeks till the ISD. Remember if you need to order something then you should do it now so it will reach you in time. Sweedish Gillettes take more than a few days when ordering and Sue is great with her turn arround but you want to make sure you order in time. I am going to stick with the full theme and order some of her great aftershave this week as well.

I have all the SCS stuff. Imagine that. I have the Slim Adjustable, I must have the Swedish blades somewhere. I just don't have a Simpsons or Shavemac brush. HOWEVER I do have time to buy one or both of them.

This is just what I needed a reason to buy more shaving stuff.

It just occurred to me that those of us testing Sue's products may be doing so at the time of the March ISD. Perhaps we should choose our kit accordingly, since we're supposed to keep the same setup throughout the testing process.

You are right Yoyo.... Sue hasn't told me the exact time and date of the testing but I could run into the same time as the S shave day. Remember whatever shaving razor and brush and blade type you start with, you continue to use that for the whole test.

Okay

Plisson brush
Feather Artist Club
Feather Pro Special blade
Tabac Soap
Green Irish Tweed after shave balm

Will that do?
