Tim, I have found that they work great in some razors and maybe not quite as well in others. Have you already tried other razors with the Wilks?timc wrote:T.G.I.F.:

The more I shave with the WS blades, the more I think that they don't agree with my face. I'm sure it's my technique, but I'm going to switch to a different blade after this run.

This is only the second WS blade that I have used. I used the other one in my '58 Super Speed with mixed results, but that may have been to do with being away from home as much as anything else.nodaktim wrote: Tim, I have found that they work great in some razors and maybe not quite as well in others. Well, I went with a gentle shave today, because I realized I'd scraped a section of my underchin (is that a word) or irritated it a bit with the 7AM blade. I may have to skip a weekend shave!

Jim and Yukio,
You may have gotten the ideas from others' works, but the actual photos you have submitted are still your own original works. You had to set up the shot, execute it, and edited it. Did you not? Well, then they are not 'ripped off' from anyone, only inspired by others' ideas. You should still get the accolades for the photos in question, as they are excellently done.

Thanks for the props and as modest as Yukio is I was inspired by him and Richard to get back into photography after 25 years away.
Thank you both.
Jim
It is funny you mention that because it was seeing Richard’s pictures that also inspired me to dust off my DSLR and invest in a macro lens, a project I had abandoned for a while. During a few months, I lazily shot random SOTD photos. I feel I seriously took the plunge last month when I started going out only to practise and take B&W photographs.Goosemeplease wrote:Timnodaktim wrote:Jim and Yukio,

I’m now avidly accumulating knowledge. I am confused as to what kind of photography I want to do, but the journey is fascinating.

Pre-Shave:.....Proraso Crema Pre Barba
Brush:...........Rooney Super Silvertip Badger style 3 size 1 (small) brush
Cream/Soap:..Proraso Sapone Da barba
Razor:............Gillette 1955 (A-4) Red-tipped Superspeed
Blade:............English Wilkinson blade (2nd day for current blade)
After Shave:...Proraso Crema Liquida Dopobarba
I did a 2 pass (WTG, ATG) with some touch ups and got very close to a BBS except for some very minor irritation on the bottom of the chin and some minute stubble close to the Adam's apple. I can barely feel it, but since it is there, I won't count this as a BBS day. This shave was otherwise quite smooth. Yesterdays near BBS contributed to making today's shave a success.
