Thursday:

Gillette '58 TV Super Speed / Gillette "Swede"
U.S. Palmolive Lather (red tube)
D.R. Harris Arlington Aftershave Milk

While rooting out a pot of Green Pond (Harris) Sandalwood shave cream, I knocked a small sample vial of Penhaligon's LP No. 9 off the shelf. It shattered on the tile floor, just my luck. Mind you, I didn't really care for this scent, and should have just pitched it. The smell was everywhere, and quite overpowering. SWMBO suggested white vinegar for the cleanup, which I used. The smell was still quite intense after my shower, so I ditched the idea of the sandalwood and decided to go for something unscented (or with a muted, weird scent - Palmolive).

Anyone have any suggestions on removing cologne smells?

Well, I was wrong. It wasn't the Penhaligon's LP No. 9. It was Geo. F. Trumper's Astor cologne. Well, that's ruined that scent for me.

I just observed that the garbage can containing the cleaning up rags now has a powdery note to it. So, I suppose I wouldn't have like the dry down on the Astor, anyway. Sour grapes? Perhaps.

Merkur Futur – Derby Extra blade
D.R. Harris Arlington soap
Vulfix 404 brush
Taylor’s Bay Rum aftershave
Clinique M lotion

Lubricated by D.R. Harris’ creamy lather, the fine Turkish blade glides effortlessly over my face gently mowing down whiskers. Three passes and it’s complete; another smooth, irritation free shave.

Thursday

'52 SS with Derby blade (day 1)
Plisson Acrylic handle no.12 in European White
D.R.Harris Lavender shave stick
Nancy Boy Cooling aftershave gel
Hydrolast Lime & Green Tea conditioner

Pretty good shave today. I don't think the Derby blades are for me. A lot of irritation but a pretty close shave.

Warmest regards, Niksa

Friday

Razor: Merkur HD
Blade: Israeli (day 5 - time to retire this one)
Brush: Vulfix 2197
Cream: Kiss My Face Key Lime
A/S: Nivea Sensitive Skin

I was in a major rush to get out the door this morning, so my shave was predictably sub-par. Just one tiny weeper, but otherwise no worse than anything I got with my Mach 3. :)
