Saturday's Shave
Today I went to the barber and Ben gave me a shave with my str8 razor (Red-Injun No.101 H&B Co. Germany). It was a great experience. I laid back the barber chair as he messaged pre-shave Noxzema cream into my face, gave me a hot towel, then he applied the hot cream from the lather machine and did pass #1. Then a coco butter cream message and more hot lather followed by pass #2. This was followed by a massage of some sort of after shave cream - smelled like eucalyptus and he rubbed it into my face, forehead, and back of my neck- followed by a hot towel then after shave lotion. Then he sat me up and shaved the back of my neck!
BTW, he honed and stropped my razor before we began - no charge.
All this for $10 (plus $5 tip).
The results were not as close as I get myself but, and this is a big but, it was soooo enjoyable.

Saturday (Evening)
Pre-Shave: Proraso
Soap: Tabac
Brush: Rooney - Style 2, Size 1, Pure Badger
Razor: Gillette Tech 1947
Blade: Treet Platinum (Shave 4)
A/S: None
EDT: None
My final shave with the Treets before moving on to another blade from my sample pack. I enjoyed my experience with them, though I did find I was nicking myself more frequently with them than with the Merkurs.

Fiat lux, et facta est lux. Que la lumière soit, et la lumière fut. Let there be light, and there was light.
Saturday night:
Noxzema
HD w/ Derby (shave 2)
AOS unscented SC
Conk brush
Musgo Real balsam
2 passes
After using the TOBS avocado, I notice the inferiority of the AOS SC. Although it makes a fine lather, it simply does not compare to the avocado. Some irritation on my face but I believe it is stress related (waiting on my bar results and looking for a job is taking its toll).

Hello gentlemen,
this is my first post after reading a lot of your insightful opinions on this forum. I am a devoutly DE-shaver for about a year now and just want to thank you for the expertise you provided, it was very helpful.
Here is my Sunday morning shave.
Razor: Merkur Slant
Blade: Derby (second shave)
Brush: some lousy Muehle Pinsel, I plan on buying a Plisson or a Simpson's Duke in the next couple of weeks.
Soap: D.R. Harris Almond (very nice, definitely a keeper)
After Shave: Vichy Homme Soothing Balm for Sensitive Skin
Music: Frank Sinatra - That Old Black Magic

Long hot shower (it's a weekend)
Merkur HD with IP
Rooney Super Style 3/Small
William's Shave Soap
Cold rinse
Aqua Velva
The pucks of DR Harris, T & H, Floris, and Tabac made faces as I reached past them and grabbed the lowly Williams, but they'll get over it. Perfect BBS shave. It's going to be 106 degrees again so maybe tomorrow is a Proraso day.
Happy Labor Day,
Dave
