My shave was a mixed bag today:
The Good: My stropping skills are improving rapidly. Got a real sharp edge today The Bad: Nicked myself up quite a bit with the aforementioned sharp edge The Ugly: I dinged the lateral edge of my razor by the point. BOOOOO!!!
Looks like a straight razor hiatus is in the cards for me. I'll have to send the poor fella out to someone who can remedy the situation.
Andrew, I'd be happy to fix it for you just cover the shipping both ways. PM if interested.
Pre-shave: Hot shower/Lime Extract Skin Food Brush: Rooney Super Badger Razor/Blade: Gillette New/Wilkinson Sword Cream/Soap: Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil Post Shave: Witch Hazel with Aloe, Spanish Floid,
Nivea Soothing Balm Cologne: Intense Instinct by David Beckham (my 10 year old nephew bought it for my birthday. He is a future wet shaver)
Had a late shave today, played in a charity golf outing early this morning. I kind of like the afternoon shave, nice and fresh ready to tackle the night.

Every time I shave with this combo it's a tribute to those who've done it before... I am reminded of Mr Fidelity Sal... who hasn't been around in a while... hope he's OK...

I have to say that I took today off and it felt good...it is nice to let the face just relax and recover every once in a while. I will however lather up and shave before Easter mass in the morning. Happy Easter to everybody.

Tabac Original aftershave, used as cologne
Regular prep (= shower, washing face with soap, towelling dry, re-moistening the beard with warm, but not too warm, water from the tap);
Lavera shaving cream;
Shavemac silvertip badger brush;
Gillette M3Power on a non-vibrating handle;
2 N-S passes, 1 ATG pass; extensive touching up;
Tabac aftershave.
For an 'all organic natural cosmetic' cream, Lavera is very good. Much better than that crap Weleda is pumping out. It has a refreshing lemon-limelike citrus smell which I like very much; once again I am reminded to seek out a 'classic' cream with such a scent. Latherwise, Lavera is rich, dense, and thanks to a bit of pure jojoba oil, quite slick. It shaves well too, without irritation---I'm just a bit hesitant about the closeness of the shave. I had to reshave so many areas in my neck and chin that I might as well call it a fourth pass. I think, however, that I need to work on my technique a little: of late I've grown into the habit of pulling the skin tight and flat, and I think this is doing more harm than good.

Wow! My first try at superlather, a wonderful soft and hydrating lather. Very nice shave today. Picked up the KMF on sale at Whole Foods yesterday, after reading about it in most of the forums, I whipped some up yesterday when I got home and thought it was a bit on the light side, decided this am to try the superlather thing and like I wrote, worked better than I expected.
