Richard, Oh indeed...VERY "working class"....Henckel's razor and a Rooney White Cap shave brush....ummm...
Monday:

Gillette Model #58 & LB NOS Wilkinson blade
Rooney Finest, Style 1, medium
Coate's Almond shave cream
D R Harris's Pink A/S
Penhaligon's English Fern

A seriously impressive lather, even with our mediocre water.

Monday Night:

Gillette Tech razor (gold, thick handle)
Gillette Platinum blade (The Blade formerly known as Swede)

Omega 63171 pure badger brush
Cella soft shaving soap

Thayer's Original Witch Hazel (Astringent, Unscented)

I bought 50 Gillette "Swedes" from LetterK, back when he first offered them outside of the sampler pack, but I never got around to trying them. With Squire's test results out today, I decided to try the blade now. A variable that throws everything off is that my beard softened very easily tonight, immediately apparent as soon as I started to hydrate it. When this happens, I'm assured a "miracle shave" no matter what I use.

I had wonderful lather from the Cella soft soap, an unusually well-softened beard, and a very smooth shave (both in terms of blade action and removal of stubble). Even if the beard was especially cooperative tonight, I have to note that I got no hint of harshness from this blade, which comes as a surprise considering its reputation for sharpness.

I look forward to further shaves with this blade to get a better idea of its true qualities, and I look forward to comparing it to the Iridiums, Polsilvers, and Gillette 7 O'Clock blades that I just got from Giovanni.

Tuesday

C&E BBB
Cella Crema da Barba
'61 Gillette Tech
Gillette Swede
Swiss Pitralon

Fine shave, really dialing in with the Tech for some very nice shaves and find it quite easy on my face with the right sharp and smooth blade. Five days on this current Swede and I think another shave or two would be no problem as it is still cutting and gliding very well.

Have a great day,

Gary

PS - Cella was perfect today!

Good Shave, no weepers or Razor burn. Needed to reload the brush between passes on the medici, but no big deal.

Have you managed to narrow down why this might be? It's quite an intriguing observation.

Progress/NOS WS LB
Sabrooney finest 1/2
Trumper's Almond soap
Lucky Tiger tonic
Tabac edt

This was my Monday and my Tuesday shave. I'm not sure if, in a blindfold sniff test, I would choose "almond" as any of my first five words to describe the scent of the Trumper's almond soap, but I am sure that I love the scent.
