Friday

Progress 5th day Big Ben
Van Der Hagen boar brush
Derby lather mixed with Menth-O-Lator(Tryphon)
Alcolado Glacier AS
Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel

I really pushed the Big Ben blade as it started to pull and tug but got by without any cuts or irritation. Next up from Lord will be the Rainbow but will limit it to 4 shaves.

Aristocrat/Gillette #6
Rooney 3,1
Mama Bear's Clear Skies shave soap
Penhaligon's Endymion

Excellent two-pass shave with some burn on the neck.

Perhaps yesterday's shave was a sign to change blades? It never really occurred to me before that I might need to change blades more than once a week. D'oh! :D

38C/NOS WS LB
Sabrooney fiest 1/2
Trumper's violets soap
Lucky Tiger tonic
Fresh Cannabis Santal

Shiny, heavy, with a swirly pattern on it. I like my new razor quite a bit.

1964 Super Speed, Swede (?)
Rooney 1/1
T&H soap
Harris's Pink

First shave with what I believe to be a Swedish Gillette (part of a sampler pack ordered last year from West Coast Shaving). I loaded the blade before I started lathering and forgot that I wasn't using a Crystal by the time I started shaving--a few minutes in I thought, "Oh yea, this is a blade I've never tried before." This blade felt very smooth and cut a few tough spots easier than a Crystal. I like.

Chris,

How do you find the TSD creams? Do you like them very well? And what flavors do you favor?

Friday, at last:

2234
DRH Lavender ss
Super Adjustable
Derby
Homemade lavender a/s

Monsieur de Givenchy

Terrific stuff. I used the 2234 for a stretch previously and thought it was okay. I'm now falling in love with the way it whips up lather so effortlessly and the luxurious feeling on the face. A top-notch brush value.

Friday morning!

Gillette '58 TV / Derby blade

Truefitt & Hill Rose cream
DR Harris: Pink + Milk

The T&H rose cream continues to impress. Very creamy lather, nicely scented and not heavily colored.

  • Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
  • Brush: C&E BBB
  • Cream: T&H 1805
  • Razor: GEM Featherweight for face & Braun 7526 electric for head
  • Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated SE (shave 3)
  • Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
  • A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & Nivea Senstive ASB

  • Result: Amazing, amazing, amazing! The Pella blade still shave like it is brand new. By this time I am usually feeling major tugging or pulling with a SE blade and I don't feel any reduction on pass 1. With the Pella blade I almost skipped the last ATG pass because the blade had done a great job of reduction at that point. Did the ATG pass and found that I needed minimal blade buffing with the Oil Pass. I am finding the "plastic handle" GEM Featherweight to be quite a good shaver (sorry D.Iriving79). Like the GEM lather catcher and 1912 models this razor works very well with the Pella blades. Finally I shave for the second time with the T&H cream. What a lather with not much cream. And the scent is just great. This was indeed an enjoyable and comfortable BBS shave for the 3rd day in a row with a GEM/Pella set up.
